Whilst we're on the same topic of expensive OOP miniatures I found the 'Defenders of Rohan' box on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Defenders-of- ... 20c8ba6bca

On the same note, I have those miniatures complete with box - never knew they were worth that much.

When i see stuff that looks dodgy I send the link to gw with the subject heading "please pass to legal team" and they do.
Saves the hobby.

By almeans clone shields, and swords to sell.
By all means clone models for personal use.
But dont sell them for profit.

I didn't know there were fakes of lotr miniatures

Things to watch for:
1. a seller always seems to have the same OOP rare miniature.
2. no bases
3. primed black( to hide 5 and 6)
4. lots of the same figure
5. wrong maternal (lead instead of tin) or tin when they should be lead
6. soft detail
7.no returns.
There are some reliable used figure sources on ebay they except returns.

ok thanks :)
the only sellers i buy from on eBay for minis are:
room_101
lolober68
guttersnipe12345

they have listings every week and all accept returns, they are also quite cheap, my brother bought 50 warriors of minas tirith ( had 4 complete box sets 4 sword 4 spear 4 bow) for $40 AU were as one box of 12 in Australia would cost us $37.

all in all eBay has been quite helpful, I should post some photos of my armies :-D

Sorry to hear you didn't get those minis. I hope they're fake too if it's any consolation to you. 50 pounds is quite an awful lot for them.

That just sold for £97.63! :? There are some nice miniatures in there, like the Aragorn one, but some like Hama and Gamling you can still buy from GW (speaking of which another auction for the Gamling miniature from that box is currently on at £11.05 when you can get that miniature together with the mounted one for £15.50 from GW).

I bought this set years ago in a sale for £10.00 some of the sculpts are not the best and I am amazed how much it went for.

Ditto - can't think why someone would want it that much.

Most of the figures are just so static that I can only see you using most of them as diorama/display pieces...they would look a little strange leading an army just standing about.

Agreed BOTWT - I use all the Defenders of Rohan sculpts on 60mm diorama's.
