Nice work, but your work area is entirely too clean :)

Finished the first ten today, probably the last update for a bit as I make my way through the ranks but I'll put the odd photo up when I start the spear and bow men.

I agree with Bilbo these are very nice and their bases fit the models well. Excellent stuff!!!!

Those are awesome! Man, I have a few of the plastic Troll sets that I have yet to assemble. I'm wondering if I should have invested in the metal one? Ah well, I got 'em for about $15 each so I shouldn't complain...

Thanks for all the comments, much appreciated as this is only the second army I have painted and the first was a WWWII German force so this is something quite different for me (though LOTR was always my first love). My wife is also working on a Rohan/Gondor force at the same time so I'll try and take a few snaps of them too.

Lord Hurin - the Trolls were a real joy to paint and I think I'll eventually look to add another one to the army but probably at the end of the project

I've also got something special planned for the end of the project, a real treat for me and by then my painting should be up to scratch to do it justice (hopefully).

I really love the bases. What do you do to get them like that?

Well the sand is a mixture of very fine and coarse sand (about 2:1 when mixing) - paint wise it's a black base coat followed by a very watered down scorched brown (or charred brown from Vallejo), probably 1:1 with this, then a drybrush of snakebite leather and finally an very light drybrush of bleached bone.

Your eaterlings are looking great, totally astounded by your workspace is just insanely tidy mine is covered with bits of old models and sprue and paint spillages!! Also are u going to put any grass on the bases of ur easterlings, it might give a nice finish to them :)

Yup I've gotten some great looking dead grass which instead of being straw coloured is more dark brown with a hint of green

As work continues on the Easterlings (so nothing really new to see) I though I'd put some images up of a couple of conversions I did for two mounted Ringwraiths:

Image

Image

The one on the right is just the spare wraith from the Fell Beast set on a Morgul horse but the one on the right is a Morgul Knight with a wraith head and arm then I green stuffed the robes on to him, didn't turn out too badly.

Also I though I'd show a little more of our work space, well the display cabinet actaully. Not much LOTR in there but worth a look I think:

Now for something a little different, my wifes Rohirrim. The foot troops are completed but the mounted ones are still WIP:

Obviously this is only a portion of what is actually completed and underway but gives and idea of the paint scheme etc.

C&C always welcome as usual

They are varnished but only the same as all the other minis in this thread, its the lighting that's making them look a little too shiney
