Beautiful painting. The work on the horse and Arwen's robes is spectacular.

I can safely say I'm DONE! Overall Arwen was a pretty intimidating model to paint, but I had fun with her, and I must say that the sculpt is fantastic and made painting it a joy.

Wow this must be the best arwen I've seen..
The new sculpt is much better than the old pose and you have done an amazing job.. The blue is just lovely!

Thanks DMS! I really do make it hard for myself though, I need to buy some more colours - I mixed about four to get the base colour for her coat.

That's a pain.. The good thing is you probably get a slight variation in the colour, making your mini even more unique. Bad thing, if you didn't keep some of the paint, touch ups are #@&^#%@&.
You managed to pull a very nice blue tone I must say.

Btw on eyes, try using this scheme Image (i'm sorry that I don't give credit to the original source of it, but I can't remember it and I just had this on my computer)
The last part, is pretty hard to impossible in the 28mm minis, but the first three steps are ok.
Even better start with the eyes, if they go wrong (which will prolably will), np you can start over again without messing the face.

Absolutely stunning Shieldmaiden - I especially love the horse :) I think Arwen will be going on my to-buy list now

Thanks a lot Whatevier :) I sincerely doubt it's the best you've seen, but thanks :P

And meh, I use that technique when I do paint eyes, I just don't really like painting them, it doesn't suit my muted style. I get too frustrated painting them too!

She is a lovely model... and despite people telling me to take her on foot in my armies for the Elven Cloak, I'd much rather use the lovely mounted model!

Thanks a lot Bilbo!

It's pretty amazing how badly I used to paint before, I wanna go find something to show you how rubbish I was when I started :P

I can't really say my technique has improved that much, I just think with age comes patience and attention to detail.

That's just awesome! I never liked the Fellowship-era Arwen model, but this one is WAYYY better! I can't believe I missed it until now. Great paint job on a great mini!

Me neither, the sculpt sucked, it looked nothing like a female never mind Liv Tyler, haha. Do buy it!

Thanks Dave. I'll echo what I said to Hurin - definitely purchase it!

Really excellent work, they are awesome. I really like this sculpt of Arwen and much prefer it to the original FotR attempt.

Easy on the smilies there Sid.. But some seriously stunning work. You've really captured the movement with the painting & she looks as true as the films. Very nice miniature, makes me want to go & buy her after seeing this wonderful paint job! 8)

Hehe thanks Sid. Y'all are making me quite humbled.

I think it's a candidate for most-improved LotR re-sculpt.

Captured the movement eh? Must be some kind of witchcraft! Thanks Drumstick.

So, next on the agenda! I'm expanding my Rivendell themed force, so I have 3 Dunedain & 2 Rangers of the North to paint, along with the old school Elladan & Elrohir (of which I first have to come up with an alternative paint scheme for - I dislike the GW one), and then when they arrive and are assembled - Gandalf the Grey (Foot and Mounted OOP version), Aragorn (Warg Attack) and 24 Rangers of Middle Earth. I also ordered Haldir and a Banner bearer but they're being put away for now until I manage to hit a goldmine of cash in order to fund getting a hold of some OOP Haldir's Elves.

I absolutely love your Arwen, the foot and mounted version are just incredible. From now on paint like that! Your elves are not as beautifull as arwen atm. I think your standard has improved in the short time i have seen you here. :yay:

Thanks cowboy :)

UPDATE:

Not a very interesting one I'm afraid. Base coated two Dunedain and started on some more Elves.
