I have worked on mine until it is too wet and sticky. I will have to let it dry.

Image

I added a little red railroad ballast and brown saw dust. I will have to wait to add more colors. I made a wooden cook pot until I can find a ping pong ball.

I added some more color and some short static grass.

Image

The pot is primed with red oxide spray primer and an over spray of black. I will paint it and add rust effects before I add some moss and leaves to the bowl.
I am going to add some 6 mm grass before I glue the trees in.

Might be nice if there was a crack in the cooking pot or something, like some kind of old pot. If there is a chunk out it might look older.

That is a good idea. I am trying to find a ping pong ball to make the pot from. May have to buy one  I will paint and rust out this one like it has been out side for 50 years.

I will add the 6mm static grass next. I will have to wait to paint the pot until I restock supplies.

great stuff old man willow.
really nice piece. I'm loving the look of those trees... i'm guessing the trunk is a stick but what's the foliage?

The trolls are looking good, Oldman Willow! :D

As for the pot: I agree with garmenhord.

These guys must have had a black scorched kettle, worn, cracked and bruised. The wooden bowl might work after all. Maybe you can hammer two small nails or pinheads on both sides near the rim and add an iron handle? Maybe you can also apply a layer of texture paint on the outside before painting it (black?). Since the cook pot is part of the troll scene I would use trollish colors as a dry brush on the kettle – maybe together with a few brown traces of rust. A filthy residue  in the kettle’s down side maybe…?

Thanks guys for the nice post. :!:

I worked on Mirkwood tree canopies today. I am going to add spider web to the odd colored trees.

Lichen, I pick it and treat it myself. The yellow is something I got at the flower shop.

The handle is a very good idea 8) I like the idea of the cracked pot as well.

I think it would look better with some smaller branches under the webbing, but other that, a brilliant job :yay:
