Thanks for the find. The service at that particular GW store seemed great and their explanatio,n regarding first wave Finecast models, credible enough.

Interesting read...but OMG I cringe every time I read "Ork". At least he wasn't talking about LotR Orcs.

The experiment and results seem to enforce the issues we’ve seen reported here. FC is relatively soft and has a bending point at lower temps than metal and plastic. On its own that doesn’t seem to be TOO bad of an issue from the experiment as his mounted Gandalf returned back to normal. It appears the pressure of a case was more of an impact when it got soft from the heat. Unfortunately if the model was painted even the ‘minor’ warpings would have been a big problem as the paint job would have been damaged during the warpring or, if it survived that, during the ‘fixing’.

But what it highlights is the fact that the casting quality, especially in relation to unknown ‘under the surface’ bubbles is a big factor. When you combine the softeness of FC with the integrity issues you get a larger problem.
