Thanks Tomogul, I really enjoyed painting the metal Orcs. I think I'm doomed once I get into the plastic ones though...

Awesome stuff, Shieldmaiden! My Orcs would surely hate to meet that lot in a dark forest.

I must apologize for the pictures, we used a different camera yesterday and apparently it was set to "insanely large." Kinda fits with me though, since I'm largely insane at times 8)

According to the OP, "You must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of October 2nd, 2012"

So get painting, Ardboe! You may not finish in time, but then again you might. And any painting progress is always a good thing!

Is that the midnight between Monday and Tuesday, or Tuesday and Wednesday? I always get confused which way round it is :?

Let's hope that I can finally finish an entry in time.

Good Luck everyone :-D

Not sure if this entry is eligible as I used a Captain rather than a named hero - but I threw in a banner bearer too. I decided to keep going anyway so I had motivation to finish more uruk's. Anyway I did a warbard of beserkers and feral uruks. Went a bit overboard with photos!

Proof pic (sorry for blur)

Some close ups

I did another one from this angle with the guy in the back in focus cos I like the blood splatter on the helmet

Very nice painting, edge67. One question: Why are some of the Uruks normal dark flesh-type coloured and others grey? John Wayne, that is a very impressive Guard.

Anyway, here's mine own entry, more Uruks in all their glory:

Some Random Uruks to show the paint sheme:

The Highlights are a bit more visible in real life, I don't know what happened in the pictures

C&C (especially about highlighting effectively) very, very much appreciated. Also, how do I get my camera to catch an Uruk's face properly?

Looking very good indeed, Chris. Especially the freehand on the banner.

Here's my entry:

The most surprising thing was how much I enjoyed painting these models. I've got loads of them in a box and I had always considered a little boring and never thought they would be interesting to paint. I might have to look at what else I have lying around instead of getting the latest shiny new releases.

I'm not sure why, but I think your models lack a bit of depth, even though the attention to detail and especially that banner are very good.

Also, the editing is really good.

Fantastic entries everyone! Well done.

[quote="Telchar"]Very nice painting, edge67. One question: Why are some of the Uruks normal dark flesh-type coloured and others grey?

There are actually 3 different skin tones - the regular dark flesh, grey (chardonite granite) and green (mix white/gretchin green). I have lots of uruks to paint (> 200) and I didn't want to paint them all the same skin tone - I wanted some variety similar to the variety you see with orc skin tones.
