That is as real as it gets. The sculpt matches the film costume imagery perfectly. I can't say I'm a fan of the pose, as I don't imagine elderly wizards running like Usain Bolt, but I can certainly fix that easily enough. Exciting stuff!

Radagast isn't elderly, he is an Istari. He has just taken the guise of an elderly man.

Still, his leg sticking straight out in front of him like that isn't very realistic.

Not sure I agree. When hurdling roots and other things in forests your leg is likely to look like that. Look at a professional hurdler in mid-jump when the athletics is on the tele next.

I don't like the leg sticking straight out but it probably is realistic.

Look at the picture from the side again. Try running with one leg about 30 degrees, straight, back and one leg about 45 degrees, straight, forward. Either he's seriously booking it through the woods, or that's a weird pose. I'm not saying I don't like the mini, it's just a strange pose for him.

I'd say the Hobbit starter set with a limited edition Radagast makes more sense. GW tends to move along fairly predictable lines, and that would directly parallel what they did with the Dark Vengeance box.

As for the mini, I'm not crazy about it at first viewing, but will withhold judgment until I've seen it painted up. That can make a huge difference.

Anyone else think GW is gonna get in major trouble for a leak like this?

This is exactly how many of the post-Finecast Warhammer and 40K Heroes are. I've only bought one (the Vampire Counts Cairn Wraith) but it was excellent. If all The Hobbit range Heroes are like this I'll be pleased.

Yeah probably, they've got an agreement with new line regarding release dates and such which surely states the consequences of leaking information... my guess is a rather big fine.

Do any of you remember the de Agostini and GW magazine "battle games in middle earth" which came out bi-weekly for about 18 months when the lord of the rings range was first released. That picture of the Radagast spruce reminded me of the free plastic figures GW used to release as "specials" with that magazine. Could it be that GW and deAgostini have teamed up again and we are going to get a new magazine dedicated to the new Hobbit range? Perhaps the Radagast figure will be a freebie with a copy of that magazine! Just a thought

In that case, lets steel ourselves for another price rise :(

But we already have seen what Radagast looks like. Would this affect Games Workshop?

Seeing as most all of the toys are out already, I think that only GW would really care about a mistake like this. Of course, New Line COULD fine them, but it's not like we haven't already seen Radagast from their own trailer.

Hi,

I signed up (again!) to see the picture of Radagast and I'm really hoping its just a poor picture. Usually pretty GW fanboy and even found finecast not too bad, but this looks underwhelming! At least I've got a couple of the metal ones if its not too great.

Really llooking forward to the new models, really invigorated me to get going again after a brief lull.

Hello, by the way!

Thats what I thought but it's a dog eat dog world out there and I don't think New Line would say "no probs, its just Radagast", if its in the agreement they can make some easy money on this but I guess well never know.

Oh and.... I WANT MY HOBBIT STARTERSET!

Bottom line is that if the toys are already out it's because their specific agreement allowed them to be released in early October. If GW isn't releasing The Hobbit range until early November, it's because that's the agreed-upon date. A mistake like this will, at the least, make New Line wary of GW's quality control practices and perhaps even prompt them to alter their deal surrounding the second and third films.

This makes me really hopeful for the new miniatures. It confirms that they are definitely the same scale as the current range, the sculpt looks good (and I'm sure the pose will make sense when we see the movie) and it suggests we may not have to deal with as much finecast. Here's hoping for a high quality, full plastic range!

I really hope they do. That was a great magazine. However, I emailed de Agostini about a month ago about this and they said they have never had any deal in place with GW. They clearly did, but I gave up enquiring after that.

I thought the sprues included with the BGiMe were just the standard figures? A sprue of Moria Goblins or Last Alliance warriors, etc.
