<Spolier Alert?> Giant ?

I dont know whether this has cropped up here on the forum already but...

I watched one of the Hobbt trailers and couldnt help but notice a scene with the Stone Giants hurling rocks from the mount tops as in the Hobbit book...

So PJ has put them in the movie - that makes them Official!?
So will GW make a model for them?

If so how big will it be?
And worst of all, how much will it cost (money - not points!)

How will it fit in the game?

The Stone Giants were in the book. They are very large, making a mumakil look like a mouse, so there is no way any GW or Forgeworld version would be made to true 28mm scale.
I may scratchbuild one, if I can get clear images - I would need 360 degree views in various poses to try for something representative. On current estimates, it would be around 1 metre tall to make the Company look suitably miniscule.

They have been official since July when they were first revealed.

I think they will resize the Giant for about little bigger, than the Balrog. Huge models are useless on the board.
I think there will be several new thing in the movie, that we haven't seen yet.

They'll just scale him back, I think the size of the warhammer giant and LOTR's smaller scale it will get the point across

The question will be Smaug, he better be the biggest GW plastic box yet

Regardless of what GW produce, I may still go ahead with a big Stonegiant simply because it is a challenge but one i can probably manage as I have done large rock carving before (Balrog's Doom).

My guess is that they will scale it down to be usable in the game, like they did with the Mumakil.

Well, would the giant be good or evil? They do not really take sides in the books since they are just out for some sport. Maybe they were really just maiar having fun.

They were never mentioned as being anything other than giant, which from a Hobbit's point of view could mean they were no bigger than trolls. However, I think that the Stone Giants were meant to be about twice the size of a troll, not big enough to make Mumaks (mentioned as being the one of the biggest living beings) look like mice.

Firstly Smaug will not be bigger than the Mumak, because of the whole scale thing mentioned later in post.

Secondly, the Stone Giant is not bigger than film-scale Mumak, only GW scale Mumak, it is roughly the smae size.

GW does NOT put the largest monsters in the same scale as the rest of the models, only the smaller ones; Cave Trolls, Mordor Trollls, Shelob, Great Goblin. The rest inc Mumakil, Eagles, Fell Beasts, the Watcher, Great Beasts, Dragons etc are SMALLER SCALE therefore do NOT expext Smaug or Stone Gaints to be that big.

If the Mumak was correct scale to 25mm based models, it would be more than 4 times its current size.

GW would easily make a smaller version of the giant so they could sell it. People would want it and GW would make profit off it. Makes sense.

Indeed, the giants....

Probably they'll be indeed, mumakils... Way to tiny.

And they'll be as expensive as a Baneblade
