Just as Theoden King travelled with his Royal Guard, so too, does the Prince of Dol Amroth. Prince Imrahil's Guard are selected from the elite Sawn Knights by the Prince himself. Only those who can trace their bloodlines back to their Numenorian ancestors are considered.
The Steeds are a special breed of horse that are trained for combat and are recognized by their Crimson Barding. Swift and certain death awaits those who intend harm to their Prince.

OK these models were pretty much straight out of the box with the exceptions of the shields. I use the Minas Tirith shields in place of the Swan Knight shield to signify Imrahil's alliegence to Gondor. Plus, it allowed me to use the Swan shields on my Ringlo Vale Knights. I needed a way to differentiate between the regular Swan Knights and the Guard. I decided that the horses Barding was the way to seperate the two form each other.

Nice,
Can you tell me how you made the light blue?

Yes, I held the paint brush in one hand and the light bulb in the other. I painted the bulb blue and that's how I made the light blue..

Sorry, Just couldn't resist.

 light blue :o

More fine work from you. The red barding on the horses look great and sets Imrahils guard apart from the rest of the army. Great idea and well painted. Whats next?

What's next?
Haven't decided yet????
I have 3 units left due to having finished another one. So, it's a tough choice.
It's fun explaining how the different units came into being. I always enjoy the back stories of the others here that make converted figures.
Stay tuned for tonights episode.

Slightly off topic - the minis are looking great and the 'fluff' is plausible - and I know I have been guilty of it too - spell check your posts for unintended ambiguities, misconstruations and inadvertent comedy.
Elite Sawn Knights sounds a bit Monty Python. And painful. It made me laugh.

The red and blue complement each other well. I tend to give my heroes two or three bodyguards when I play. It just makes sense that someone that important would have somebody watching their back.

Dorth, Yes, sometimes typos slip through. However, this is a board about toys...not a proofreaders forum. If you're troubled by a few mistakes and typos, then don't bother reading the 'fluff." Somehow, I'll survive.

I don't consider revealing the inspiration for my conversions "fluff." It's explaining how the thought process worked for me. Several others have written to me expressing their interest in the background tales.

I start with an idea for a unit or troop that has not been produced by any of the makers of LOTR figures and go from there. I find it better than watching old reruns of Monty Python.

I don't think thats the right way to say it but I do think dorth was just trying to advise and help you. Thats partly what forums are for.

The fluff sounds good by the way. 8)

I think that it would be too big to fit into one topic. I have several more units to display here and that would be alot of pictures for one thread.

Would have gone white with the elite guard, red goes against everything Dol Amroth, and is usually almost exclusively a color for evil In the books and films, Rohan being the exception, but only on the royal armours

Nice ideas and a nice paintjob there too.
Your attitude, however, seems a little bit off...
