Very nice looking Uruk-hai. 8) My tip for the armour is to basecoat it with Tin Bitz and then drybrush it with Chainmail. That's how I paint mine anyway. ;)

[quote="Green_Dragon"]Does anyone know how to strip paint off of plastic figures, theres a few uruks in picture that I butchered 10 years ago that I'd like to repaint.{/quote]
Simple green works great for that. Depending on the glue you used it will dissolve that too without harming plastics in any way. A few hours submersed in a jar of it and a toothbrush will do the job right.

Been a while since my last update, haven't done a whole lot of painting but I will have an uruk update with a different technique from the help I've received here, 6 are done just need to take the pictures.

For now though I couldn't help but get stuck into my hobbit box I received for christmas. I'll have a few colour schemes for you guys to help me choose the first is a brown to fleshy type, second will be a green to pale flesh/white and thirdly I'm thinking a greyish type but we'll have to see.

The first scheme I am pretty happy with so far but I'll make my mind up when I've finished all 3 types if I'm going to just go with 1 for my whole force or a varied range.

Here is the first one :)

Hey guys the seconds greenish scheme didn't come out as I had hoped and after seeing the movie I think I'll stick to the flesh tones and vary the paleness from there. Heres the green scheme in progress and a finished paler flesh tone

Image

Heres a pic to give an idea of how the uruks have been coming along but I'll have to get a daytime picture because the colour is drowned out in the pics I took tonight.

I really like the green, very interesting! How did you achieve that effect?

Well this is a pleasant suprise haha. It's not that I hate the green it's just not what I had in my head and then seeing the movie I thought this is the first and last green misty mountain goblin. I will however save this recipe for my moria goblins I think it would look good on them.

I used Ogryn Camo base then highlighted with rotting flesh, second highlight rotting flesh and white mixed, third highlight mainly white with a hint of rotting flesh. Then washed at the end with agrax earthshade

Hey guys I've been busy painting for once

Here is my Uruk captain

Image

I took a slightly better pic of my uruk horde. The lighting was better but I'm still struggling to capture the detail. Will have another go when I've done a few more.

Image

Heres my latest wip, a Gollum/Bilbo riddles in the dark piece. When I sprayed Bilbo it came out all frosty/speckled and drowned out some detail so I'll be off to buy simple green tomorrow so I can start again.

Good progress! If I'm not mistaken, humidity causes paint to spray fuzzy, this time of year with it being rainy I prime indoors and set up a window fan behind my spray box to draw the fumes out

Hmm that might explain why it came out fine at night but fuzzy during the day. I'll have to wait for night when it's cooler and open the door, thanks mate you saved me I was just going to give up and paint the undercoat by brush haha

Can't wait to see how the diorama will turn out, this is my favourite scene from the Hobbit, really amazing performance from Andy Serkis!

Uruk's and gobbo's looking sweet aswell

Hey all, I haven't got around to much painting. I've been putting together my goblin king and the three trolls though. Made some small progress with my riddles in the dark diorama, Bilbo is stripped and ready to paint. I've nearly finished the green goblin too, once he's done I'll be painting up 2 more alot quicker. Also got a photo of my goblins in my new display cabinet :)
