I thought Gwahir (sp?) was going to just be a repackage. I'm glad to see it was replaced completely. The Eagles are drool worthy!

Bought them all, sorry - couldn't resist, and thus the backlog grows ever greater.

I think I'm going to skip this and get some more Anglo Saxon miniatures instead... I can around 4 metal models for the price of one Finecast model...So for a £16, 4 model pack of Fountain Court Guard, I could get 12 Anglo-Danish Huscarls. No contest. I popped into a GW store last week and bought a fine detail brush for about £3. That was my only purchase from GW in almost a year IIRC...

GW is nothing but an overpriced, overhyped brand with a near monopoly on LOTR.

I can't really justify buying Gwaihir at 35 euros when two eagles cost 40.
Is there any reason to buy Gwaihir other than having an eagle with another pose?

P.S. too bad Gollum's boat is on shore, would have been nice to use it in some scenario's.

I'm getting them all as soon as I get paid! Love every single release. SO far, I have not been disappointed wuth a single Hobbit purchase. Getting every mini in my hands has changed any preconceptions I may have had!

I do hope the new gollum shows up as an individual piece eventually. It looks like a nice sculpt with poor paint. But the rest of the set? Nahh. I can't believe they even 'count' the boat when it comes to pricing. Bah!

The eagles are looking good and competative to others on the market. I wish GW allowed individual sales though. It's easier for me to get one at $25 now and another later. But at least it's still a reasonable cost.

Gwaihir falls short of expectations and is WAY too much.

They would never release one eagle on it's own for $25, the way I see it, we either get (or in this case got) 2 for $50, or we would have gotten 1 for $35.

I'll be picking up a pack of eagles and maybe two of fell wargs, but probably not until February. I think I'll miss out on Gwaihir, I only really want/need regular eagles and if for some reason I do need the Great Lord of the Eagles I think there'd be no issue proxying him.

Okay well, gw DO price their models too high, but 2 eagles for £30 isn't half bad, especially when you can get them for even less from element games or totalwargamer. I see these eagles selling really well and hopefully, hopefully, that may entice gw to, i dunno, maybe charging a little less on their next releases? I dunno, if we all give our money to gw for the relatively cheap releases they'll be more likely to price some of their stuff cheaper. Every little helps.

I will definitely buy the eagles, and field them alongside ma radagast. Once the sleigh version is available i will be rocking up all kinds of hell!

I'm sitting on the fence - eagles I like but there is not enough variety here. Riddles in the Dark good. Fell wargs are just the same was wargs sans hunter orcs. The prices are still high even with discounts applied.

The Great Eagles box, two plastic monsters for £30 is quite out of character for GW. I would have expected a single plastic Eagle for £25 along the lines of the Mordor/Isengard Troll kit.

I would definately get this Double Eagle box but I simply don't have the space to store and carry it. I need new cases! The Cases I have can only fit infantry, not monsters.

The blurb in WD has him as bigger than the regular Eagles.

I've ordered 2 boxes of Eagles and will get a 3rd when I'm in GW on Saturday picking up my order.
I need to see the size difference between Gwaihir & Eagles so I can decide whether to just paint one differently for him, or if I actually need the model.

Does anyone already own a Gamezone eagle that is planning on getting (or at least getting close to) one of GW's new ones? I'd be really curious about the scaling of it as well.

Its true that while they are magnificent both in film and mini format, they are a real pain to transport without damaging them! Gap in the market for an Eagle carry case? lol

That's just a convenient excuse Southy.
