Yes, we're just saying that Yazneg's design was what Azog was going to look like.

So let me get this straight.

Yanzeg was digitaly replaced by Azog.
Fimbul was still the second in command of the wolves that gets killed by Azog.
But who is Narzug?

Yazneg was killed by the wolves. As far as we know Fimbul survives unless he got eaten by eagles off screen. Dunno who Narzug is

You can tell in the video, it was a late decision to change from actor to motion capture

They only changed the character design; I suppose they must have thought the smaller actor (John Rawls) was too weedy for such an imposing character. But my point still stands! MOTION CAPTURE with the guy from spartacus, not 'awful cgi'. It was even Manu's voice!

But it WAS awful CGI. Gollum is proof of that. Look at how amazing Gollum's CGI model is, how detailed and how much expression- that's because they've been working on him for over a decade. And the system was practically designed around Serkis. Azog, on the other hand, is bland, almost entirely texture free, looks like a lump of plasticine. Yes, he's motion captured, yes by someone with talent. It's still awful, awful CGI that ruins the whole performance.

It's an idea.

I do like this idea, if forum mods want to set something up or modify the monthly contest then get in touch via PM or something, I'm sure we could arrange something.

That is entirely your opinion, I thought he looked great.

This of course would isolate any non-European Union members of this board.

Of course it's my opinion- I am slightly biased against the fact he was even in there at all :P But it seems to be objectively at least a little bit the case, due to how apologetic that documentary bit sounded, all the way through saying they'd had nowhere near enough time to create him to a high enough quality, and that partly down to 'luck' they managed to have him 'show up in shots pretty much fully formed.' This implies that even the artists and technicians admit he isn't quite up to scratch with the other characters.

And, on topic, it holds us up getting any kind of model for him! :P

You could just put the competition on your website if non Euro zone people complain.

@RZ of course he's not going to look like Gollum. They've been working on him for the better part of 15 years, whereas they only worked on Azog for 3 months. The characters are also vastly different in size, pretty much the same detail was put on both characters, but since Azog was so much bigger, it felt like he was missing something. Personally, I thought he looked great, but that he could have used some armor, if only for gaming purposes.

Which is exactly my point! I'm not disputing why he didn't look as polished as Gollum, or the Goblin King, or the others- I was merely pointing out he doesn't. It is of course because his time was only the endgame. In the video he says that most characters get months or years to develop, which left them having to rush Azog to get him out on time, and even then only ending up 'pretty much formed'. It has nothing to do with the size when it comes to detail. The Goblin King had great detail- you could see every hair and pustule sway and swell. But they'd had the full development to design and fix him. I quite like Azog's design, just not his execution. I'm sure this will be fixed when the inevitable digitally enhanced Blu Rays come out. In the meantime, he was just a little bit disappointing. I am looking forward to how a model will turn out, however. And what the hell GW are going to do about @Yazneg' rules wise, or just brush him under the covers.

NEWS UPDATE:

Today I have to pull from Radagast and the Goblin King from the website. This is due to what appeared to be a last minute decision by Games Workshop to make these items direct only. We send our apologies as we are forced to refund all orders for these items. Games Workshop have released a statement to us saying that they will be seriously taking a look at how new releases information is filtered through to avoid these issues. At present we are concentrating on dealing with current orders before we persue this issue with the retailer.

It seems that way however I've been told yes I can order it. We'll see what turns up. For a big company like GW you'd expect a little more organization wouldn't you...

They probably want to get rid of Yazneg as all it is is an already out of date Azog model :P

Also- I wanna buy the trolls at some point, and you're one of the cheapest places for them, but I also want Groblog... And it doesn't seem like you have him? Just weighing up where to buy is all :P

I'll order him in tonight then, so I could dispatch him Friday if you're going for it.
