Lovely work on that one! :yay: It makes me look forward to an official Azog figure.

Just undercoated him, the mounted wizards (sans Radagast who will be painted straight on plastic as I can't be bothered to mask what's already painted, or repaint him :P), Yazneg on foot, Groblog, Bolg, and FC Radagast. Time to paint!

So I finished painting Azog, after working on him all evening! ... still don't know what to do about the warg or the base, though! :P I tried to stick to the more cartoony theme of my Hobbit minis so far, making the recesses a little more on the purple side, and the like. Quite happy, but will have to see how it works in the context of the White Warg... any advice? White fur...?

Also whilst waiting for washes, I've got to detail stage on the horse, and wash stage on Radagast on foot too.

Aw, I so loving these, especially Azog, he looks awesome, the colurs are great too, you are brilliant 8)

For the White Warg howabout: Codex grey: Astronomican Grey: Dheneb Stone: Skull White. Maybe a bit of Bleached bone betweemn the latter two, and maybe a few mixes as well?

Thanks! Don't know if i'm gonna go the shading route or the Wash route yet... might test both on plastic wargs :P or just dive in! I want to get all the Evil Hobbit heroes painted up and in some kind of diorama... Or a family photo of Azog, Bolg, Yazneg, Fimbul and Narzug... speaking of them, anyone got a spare Fell Warg rider going?... or even, perhaps more helpfully, just the mounted legs of an old style warg rider?

The mace is from a Chaos Chosen, bulked out with some Tyranid flesh hooks! :)

So have a couple of WIPs, and a (very nearly) finished mounted Radagast! :D

____ me that Azog is good. Enter that in Golden Demon and you'd be a real contender.

Very good use of making Radagast mounted. That's a really good use of resources.

Your Azog is absolutely stunning, even more so now. I showed this to some members of my family, and they were impressed too, and my sister in particular is no fan of the Hobbit.

Your mtd wizards are great too 8)

So some more WIPs and a couple of completes today. Got the Trolls through from mr Green Dragon, and they are wonderful models. And my dilemma as to how to paint I feel is solved by the wonder that is Reikland Fleshshade. Seriously, one coat of that and it's already near-tabletop. Will use Crimson, Violet, Earth and Camoshade to give it some more depth, and then paint details. Will keep posted. Anyhow, here is a Troll, Gandalf, Bolg WIPs, and my completed Council of Wizardry, as well as some more shots of now-based Azog, Yazneg and Radagast, and the finished base of the new Fellbeast.

And here's something else I'm working on- a diorama-style conversion of Khamul.

The mounted Raddy is brilliant!
looks just right, very clever conversion!
Where did you get the horses from? They look excellent!

Azog is also stunning!
I wasn't quite sure when I saw him in the early stages but now he's painted he looks very very neat!

well done!

First, thanks SO much for the details on your Fellbeast wing painting. It's probably the most true-to-film style I've seen explained yet and I'm keeping the steps saved for future use. Really wonderful.

I am also thrilled by your Radagast mounted conversion. I was almost thinking of holding out on getting the EfGT set until after they had no more 'special editions' with this silly looking Brown Wizard, but I'm thrilled to see how he might look mounted. It's a brilliant change.

I love the Gandalf mounted conversion as well. I started an almost identical conversion back in 2011, tried to pick it up again for a OR comp here in 2012...and someday hope to actually finish him. I positioned his staff and pose a little more forward as I pictured him charging forward with my Rohirrim (and planned to use him as such in WotR and SBG). But really similar othewise.

Thanks! :) I've also just finished Bolg... a stupidly detailed mini to try to paint! Fun though. I'll see if I can get batteries...

Looking good! THe contrasts on the horse fur seem a bit strong though, maybe you want to tone them down a bit. Same with Azog (on whom you did fantastic conversion work!): the dark bits are too distracting, i guess they would look better if you toned them down. after all he is the pale orc, not the zebra orc! ;)

just my two cents. keep up the good work!
