Pictures of what i call Gloins Grim Hammers, they are of the same Clan of Drawfs, hence the flame red beards.

I painted the cloth to look like a red coloured leather and to make it stand out to break the steel coloured armour, GW have done theirs black i think you lose contrast.
They really are great figures to paint, batch painted all 12 over a couple of days.
My favorite Hobbit release yet.

Nice paint job and beautiful basing! :yay:
Personnally I'm not too fond of goldne base rims, but that's a matter of taste.

What colours and type of grasses did you use for their bases (not the rim)?

They look nice indeed.

Thanks for the comments, the base are railway grit, as its finer than sand, then painted Graveyard earth (don't know what thenew nameis), then a Agrant earthshade wash,
Then dry brush graveyard earth, drybrush bleach bone, then dry brush small amount of white.

The rocks were slate, painted GW Stone, then washed, then dry brushed stone, then white.
The grass is GW grass clumps and leaves are Noch used for railway scenery.
The rim is painted Brass, Vallejo, looks better in real life

Cool colors and nice painting, was thinking of doing something similar along that line myself, although I'm planning to do 12 different beard colors ^^. Interesting choice of base rim colors, gives a sort of Lotr Ring idea.

blimey, you really have made those models look great, they look kinda dull with the GW paint scheme but yours really does them justice, keep up the good work :)

Nicely done with the red, certainly adds a nice contrast to the metal and makes the models pop a bit more, my only criticism would be that the gold rim does distract the eye somewhat from the miniatures themselves.

These are some of the best paint jobs iv seen! They put to shame some if the models in the new hobbit book. I love the job on the dweller. It's already been asked but how did you achieve that worn leathery look on the wings?

if you'd have said "im going to do the rims gold" before I saw - I would have said, or made a noise sounding like "EWWWWW". However, they look very nice!

Not the best sulpt (or paint job) ever, one question he has a arrows but does not have a bow? Anyone?

Hunter Orcs also finished, sorry about the photos i need a better camera.
Again not my favorite sculpts, but glad they are in my army nether the less.

Taken on board about the colour of the base and gone for black, thanks.

The sword IS a bow. Read GW's description of him. It's a swordbow :P ridiculous, but oh well. Nice job on the hunters- working on my own currently and I can see myself stealing from you :P
