It doesn't make any sense for GW to be trying to shut down independants: they have a large trade department and they actively seek out new trade agreeements with independants. They want as many sellers of their product as possible.
Of course they want those sellers to be doing it on their own terms, but they still want lots.

Why would Kirby not be involved in the hobby? As far as I've been told, the majority of management are in some way or another. Mark Wells is a Space Wolf collector and player apparently (there were pics of him at a staff tournament on the Warhammer World FB page a few months back).

Anyway, from reading the activity on the Hull FB page, it's obviously not closed. It's shut monday and tuesday but that's all.

Not read most of the comments since mine, but are you sure it han't simply moved? Because they're moving lots of the stores to dwonsize and drop to 2 staff (unless they're a cover store).

I don't do Facebook so I can't comment on what the page says there.
I have not found it open for about 2 weeks at various times of the day. I would expect any budding retail outlet not to have a closed sign on the window at 11am on a Saturday.
This isn't the usual closed sign, it's a fairly large one across the door window.
Perhaps I am wrong, I hope I am but either way, I haven't found it open and even my wife hasn't when she has tried to but things for me.
If it has simply changed its hours of business then they are strange ones and if they have moved then its great they have not posted the new location.

Not on the Saturday for sure. I went there at 11am and it had the closed sign. I will keep an eye out when I can but I won't be near it until next weekend.
You never know, it could be as simple as staffing issues.

Its just confusing. I tend to use it for emphasis, or for quotes.

Don't know why it was shut but their facebook page has a comment dated Sunday from someone claiming to have left their brush in the store on Saturday so, it may have been closed at 11am but it must have been open at some point.

Perhaps they closed it so no one could come back and claim the brush?

I've been in Meadowhall Shopping Centre (outskirts of Sheffield near to Rotherham and M1) today and realised the GW store has gone from the mall there too.

A bit of research found this post on a local gamers blog that suggests it actually closed on Saturday 2nd February.

I'm not sure what business they did ( I imagine a fair bit around Xmas) but when going past it always seemed to be busy. Much smaller than Sheffield though so I imagine it had to go :-(

Goodbye GW Meadowhall

Well, after 20-something years Games Workshop at Meadowhall closed it's doors for the final time last weekend. I can't claim to have visited the shop religiously but I did used to go regularly when it first opened, as my interest in the hobby waned I went in sporadically, usually as a way to avoid wandering around Meadowhall while my wife was shopping. Then my eldest picked up the war gaming baton, re-igniting my need for Grim Darkness and I've been in every Sunday since July. Straight away I discovered a new found respect for the store. I'd always found GW staff to be quite pushy and had a tendency to perch on your shoulder while you're just casually browsing, but Meadowhall seemed different, really casual and laid back, completely different to the other GW's I'd been in over the last few years.

So I couldn't find the Hull store open at 11am Saturday but I did at 7pm on a Wednesday !?!
At least it hasn't closed. I didn't get to go in but it seemed like a gaming night. Worrying though was the very obvious empty shelves. It may be a re-design with any luck.
Shame about GW Meadowhall, I bought my Cave Drake from there, the one in my WIP.
