The guy with an axe and bow, jumping over the rock is the cheiften. If I point him out at the start of the game it should be fairly easy to tell. And I'll only play friendly games with these figures anyways.

That's cool. Outside of the large heads I'm starting to really liking these figures. Do you have any of the other Wargames Factory figures? If so how do they compare to these?

Nope, these are the only WF figures I have. I know other O-R people have used WF figures as well though. I believe Samoht has used quite a few different ones....

JohnWayne, thanks. :)

I finished the other two khandish warriors.

I had lots of time yesterday, and the weather was nice, so I undercoated the goblin convertions, and painted them up! I tried to do them in the same style as my old ones so they wouldn't stick out too much. My old ones were just basecoat, wash, done. These guys I added in a highlight after the wash and then washed it again, hopefully they'll still blend in nicely, but they're better and if I ever re-do my other goblins I won't have to re-do these guys....

I tried some wet blending on the cloak of Groblog. I had washed the red with black, and then realized that becuase the wash stays wet for longer I would have the time to do some wet blending. It was lots of fun, and I think I got smoother transitions than with layering. I want to get some medium yet so I can do proper wet blending.
I also really like the jewel in Groblog's crown, I think it's my best one yet!

The shaman has a mask on, I went for blue hair to really make him stand out. Maybe it's his actual hair that he's died, or fake hair attached to the back of the mask. I also glazed the mask so that it had a blue tint to it, just for some variety.

I also painted up a couple of prowler with shield and prowler with bow conversions.

The jewel in the crown looks really good. I like the cloak too. I like the shaman but I would have liked the mask better if it was in a contrasting color so it would stand out more.

Keep up the good work!

Hmm, yeah I could have glazed the mask red....Maybe I'll try some red glazes over this yet and see what happens. Thanks for the idea. :)

A quick project I did this evening; converting my easterling swordsmen into spearmen. The idea was shamlessly stolen from Coen on TLA. I am also converting an archer into Amdur, so I will have Amdur leading a warband of 12 spearmen, and then 7 spare archers...(silly easterling box... :x )

Nice simple conversions there. I agree that most box sets are a problem in that way.

The easterlings are looking really good. And you did a great job with the Shaman conversion.

Thanks guys. I've got a pic heavy update today. I finished off Suladan, and almost finished the dwarf shieldbearer. Pics of an Amdur conversion in my next update. :)

He looks right at home leading a bunch of haradrim.

The shield bearer is the first figure I've tried to sculpt from an armature. I was also rushing a bit to try and finish him for the competition, so some of the proportions are a bit off. Improvements can be made, but all in all I'm happy with him. :)

He's maybe a little big, but not terribly so. I also really like his cloak, it's definitely the best I've done so far.

Great work on suladan!
Nice crispy detail on the armour

Suladan is great! The armor worked out better than I expected! I like the face/beard on the sheildbearer too. The shield is spot on. IMO the closth is a little off on the ax arm. It looks a little long to me too. But its not a big deal.

Thanks guys. The encouragement is great, it helps me to keep going.
@Kidterminal I agree, that arm is definietly too long. The hand fell off once (or maybe twice) and so I had to blend it back in, makng the sleeve longer.

Over all this guy is not as good as Suladan, but I spent less than half the time on him than on Suladan. He was also my first try at sculpting from an armature. So with that in mind, I'm happy with him. He'll look fine on the table, chopping up my opponents. :)

I hope to prime up the shieldbearer and suladan and get painting them soon. But, some of what I've been doing in the meantime. I finished the shieldbearers hand, and changed the boots a bit.

And, as promised, here's the Amdur conversion. I'm not totally happy with the right arm and hand, but I'm not sure if I want to go back and try and fix it... :x

And finally, I added some red tribal scroll-y markings to the shaman's mask. I quite like it now. (The original pictures were quite dark. I brightened them a bit, and dropped the contrast a lot so that you can see the markings, but the colours are now off, fyi. )

The scroll work in the mask make it look like a proper mask now.

The arms look better on the shieldbearer now. But I don't like the split in the chainmail skirt. There should be a fold in it near the top, an overlap where one side rests on top of the other. Also is would look better if it went up to the belt. I know you wont take this criticism amiss.

I like the Amdur conversion. Its a great pose. The hand is the only issue. The right arm looks fine to me.

Thanks for the feedback. After you mentioned it I saw right away that you were right, and that was part of why he was looking slightly 'off' to me. I added a bit of a bulge of chainmail overflowing over his belt, and made the split go all the way up to the belt. I didn't quite understand where you were saying the fold and overlap should be, so please expand on that.....but it's already looking better imo. :) I also did a quick re-do on Amdur's hand. It looks better now.

Image

*edit* looking at the hand from afar, I may redo it again and make it smaller, it looks a bit big right now.

I'll try to find a picture to illustrate the fold. That may take a day or two. You have the correct angle for Amur's hand, but yes its too big.
