Welcome to our fourth Sculpting & Converting Challenge!!!

Info & Rules:

1. A race and/or region are decided upon before each monthly Sculpting & Converting challenge, this two months' being...

THE SILMARILLION

In this challenge you have several options to take part:
- Sculpt from scratch (starting with or without armature/metal wire/...)
- Convert an existing miniature (to a new or another character or race/region, to change it's situation, rank, pose, wargear, ...)
You may sculpt more than one character should you choose to do so but please bear in mind only 4 finished pictures can be submit for the vote.

2. To enter the Sculpting & Converting Challenge, the miniature you are converting must not be converted nor painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-converted'.
Re-converting an already converted miniature is NOT allowed!!
When sculpting from scratch, you must picture proof this with your blank armature/metal wire/... aswell as a work-in-progress-picture as valid proof.
All "proof-pictures" MUST either have the announcement-screen of the running challenge in it's background, or contain a small note with the announced theme and date written on.

3. You may join the Sculpting & Converting Challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of your completed work by midnight GMT of MAY 31ST 2013 . WIP images are welcomed and encouraged.
You are allowed to use any sort of sculpting epoxy, aswell as scratchbuild materials (such as metal wire, plasticard, rivets, chains, ...).
You are allowed to use parts from other miniatures (such as weapons, heads, banners, arms, horses, ...).
Your final work must stay UNPAINTED and contain 4 pictures; showing FRONT, BACK, LEFT and RIGHT side.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed sculpts/conversions. Votes should be cast not simply on sculpting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of techniques, artist improvement, originality etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to improve their sculpting skills and to encourage creativity onto their shelves.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months Sculpting & Converting Challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all!

Here's my proof pic, hope it's ok. I might use some all or some of these. I'll be converting them to spectres for my Angmar army.

Thanks,
LordElrond

I would like to enter this month, though I have never completed a sculpt from scratch and last attempted to do so quite a few years ago.

I am thinking of doing Beleg but am having a hard time thinking of a pose at this time. He is renowned as a hunter so the bow would be of importance, however he was also gifted "Anglachel", later "Gurthang" Turin's sword which was capable of cutting through any other Iron found in the world. If anyone could describe poses they think would work, i would be appreciate it. At the moment I am thinking just a bow by the side with raised sword. Also trying to think of armour, Ted Nasmith has him in plain clothes.

well after reading about the silmarillion on wikipedia, i will most likely attempt to sculpt Morgoth... just wondering, how tall is the Sauron miniature? i want them roughly the same size.

Morgoth would be substantially bigger than Sauron, in fact he would most likely be the size of the Mumak. When he fought a certain someone, he left acre size craters wherever he hit the ground with his hammer.

If I can find the time to actually sculpt I think I'm going to try for Ungoliant. I think my meager skills should be able to pull off a Massive Evil Spider.

Might have a crack at one of the elven characters. Have a few spare parts lying around.
