Hope I'll find some time next month... Silmarillion would be an awesome topic to sculpt for.

So many possibilities to think of... :D

I went for wings solely because the Silmarillion has soooo many possibilities within it that we would probably get such a broad range of entries that judging fairly could be very tough. Wings gives you dragons, balrogs, bats, eagles, fellbeasts - I cannot think of anything else at the moment - but that is enough to be going on with.
Remember folks - the quality of the photographs has to be good - no use having a superb mini and submitting a dark or out-of-focus picture. Best of luck!

I can tell that this competition is going to be a good one.

Trouble with that it is always going to be a problem with people voting that don't enter. If the sculptors/converters don't get their choice then they are less likely to enter in my opinion, which is what i think happened in this case. Most of the people who voted dwarves probably had no intention of entering.

Yeah.
I'll definitely enter, as long as I remember to take a proof picture.
They always say not already painted if it is a conversion is a primed miniature ok?

I doubt we'll get 21 entries for the silmarillion again though

I would doubt that as well, but this topic has the advantage that it includes many of the other choices... So no excuses! I count 68 possible entries...

If you're keen on sculpting wings, there are enough eagles, balrogs, dragons or vampire bats, some even with riders, to pick from...
More than 2 legs: Spiders, wargs, werewolfs, giant dogs, elvish cavalry...
Ents: Just mentioned in chapter 22, but yes, there are Ents!
Valar... If you know what I mean...
Trolls: Invented by Morgoth, so part of the Sil as well... If you want to do some badass Trolls, Gothmog's Troll guard could be an option.
Brodda: Obviously...

I would like to enter this month, though I have never completed a sculpt from scratch and last attempted to do so quite a few years ago.

I am thinking of doing Beleg but am having a hard time thinking of a pose at this time. He is renowned as a hunter so the bow would be of importance, however he was also gifted "Anglachel", later "gurthang" Turin's sword which was capable of cutting through any other Iron found in the world. If anyone could describe poses they think would work, i would be appreciate it. At the moment I am thinking just a bow by the side with raised sword.
