Well unforseen circumstances meant I haven't been able to post or paint for the last few months. However, now trying to get back into things. I started to work on my Rohan force which will be pitted against all my Uruks. Bases are white because that was the primer colour. And I don't base my models individually as they will all eventually go into large battlescene dioramas. Sorry the 2nd photo is a little blurry.

Very nice warriors of Rohan. I've just started painting Rohan myself so I enjoy seeing what other people are doing, it helps inspire me!

Thanks.

How did I miss this? Rohan in the snow - they are stunning! It really makes them stand out.

No update as yet mate. He is still sitting on the shelf looking for some love. Maybe I will make him my Christmas project. I usually have a bit more time over the holidays for painting - and having him posing in snow might be a good approach (assuming we get another winter theme for Dec challenge).

Hmm - that's a great idea! I can't claim credit here - the bases are white because that was the primer colour and I haven't done any basing on the Rohan. All will eventually go in a big battle diorama so no need to base each one individually.

Here are some slightly better photos of the Grimhammers I did for the painting challenge. I have also included Thorin from Mithril Miniatures. He needs some more work I think. One of his eyes is a bit dodgy and I can see where I need to do some cleaning up.

One of the best painters on the site!!!!

Little tip for you when painting eyes. Basecoat the face but leave the eye sockets black. apply your wash. Take a fine detail brush and instead of trying to paint the whole of the eye in white and adding black pupil afterwards which is incredibly difficult to get the two pupils to look the same way try this. in each black eye socket dot a tiny dot of white into each corner of each individual socket it doesn't matter if the dot overlaps the socket above or below but concentrate on leaving the black pupil in the middle (this is the area you don't want to have to touch up) If the white overlaps above or below the socket use dark flesh (doombull nowadays I believe) to touch up around the white. Once your happy highlight the face as normal.

More great minis - the red/ginger bears liven up the dark palette of the Grimhammers.

'The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated' (apologies to Mark Twain)

Yes, it's been exactly 1 year since I posted anything on this WIP. How sad it is. But I ain't no quitter! And I have some time off work now so it's paint till I drop for the next 2 weeks.

Firstly - some wood elves. I'm batch painting 24. 12 with blonde hair (all pictured below) and 12 with brown hair (still work to do).

And after 3 years of trying I have actually taken some photos of my minis that I am really happy with. Hallelujah! I lost count of how many times I moved stupid lights around, waited for the sun, changed the background, changed the exposure....blah blah blah.

Enjoy!

They look really good! Having just painted a bunch of those plastics myself I know how hard they are to paint. The clothing folds look very nice.

I wouldn't want a bear growing on my chin, Dorth!

Lovely painting on all these models. Well done. I particularly like the him grammers.

That blue really contrasts well with the brown, I love it! Well painted figures, having painted a few of these myself I know the joys of them well...
