I remember back to when the Fellowship minis first came out in 2001/02. I wouldn't be surprised to see any number of varied poses for existing models. Wouldn't be surprised if they put out Thranduil in one form or other, or anyone who had a bit part. I'd say they'll slowly release Thorins company, but would anticipate a few surprise models no one has speculated on yet.

I think we can expect at least a few things every month up until maybe October and then there could be a lull right before the second film.

As has already been stated, there will likely be some surprise releases as well. If they release Thorin's Company in Finecast in pairs of two or three, that will get us mostly to November.

Considering the reports and/or speculation that GW is completely moving away from Finecast as soon as May, this leads an interesting question on whether Thorin's Company will actually be in Finecast. I'd be thrilled if it was a multipart plastic kit with more pieces and options than what we have in EfGT but I suspect we'll be stuck with Finecast anyway.

IIRC When the other films came out there was a release schedule from nov 01 to about april/may 02, a flyer with a list of everything due for release that year. Then a surprise Sauron was released late in the summer, with rules in White Dwarf. I know they have a whole different approach now with releases though.

Where'd you hear that, and what's the replacement going to be? Sorry if it's off topic.

I call certainbovineparts on that news. Why would they suddenly move away from FC when it's really only just been fully accepted?

They're a public traded company now, it's common knowledge if you know where to look what they are spending money on. And they've been buying new machinery for the manufacturing of plastic models. Just look at the warhammer shelves single pack plastic heros that are multipart is the future. I first heard this from a regional manager

If they don't increase the prices again I am okay with it.
Love to see some multipart LotR figures.
But even if they would stop creating new FC miniatures,
I don't think LotR would get a revamp, some new miniatures, yes, but not a re-release of all the miniatures.

There is a rumoured price increase set for June.

That can't be true! The prices for the new Hobbit stuff were already too much of a price increase, they cannot be upping it even more. I reckon GW will decline and disappear if this continues to happen, cos the prices are getting out of hand now.

 you only have to look at the last few years to see that price rises are an annual thing.

THey raise their prices every year around June and people saying "it will be the end of them" have been harking that tune since back in 2000 and 13 years later they are still making profit (sales are down though).

All depends on what the tipping point is I guess.

You mean £20 for two models (both of whom are in the £75 box), £50 for four models, isn't the tipping point??? But I digress, because I'm just gonna end up ranting about prices otherwise.

They've also been aggressively cost cutting in recent years, which no doubt helped to sustain them. AFAIK, sales are down, but profits are up. That means fewer new players, and fewer existing players are bothering to continue growing their collections.

There won't be any single dramatic tipping point, with an obvious dramatic decline in sales and numbers of players. Rather, we will see a long decline, a death by a thousand cuts as players and customers slowly abandon GW, and they're forced to cut costs further, shutting down more unprofitable stores, shedding staff, cutting the content of boxes, and of course raising the prices yet further.

Their prices have been rising very fast over the last decade, yet the average disposable income of their customers has fallen (or at best, remained the same). I don't see how anyone can describe that as sustainable in the long run.

GW will most likely still be around in 10 - 20 years time, but it will probably be a shadow of its former self.

I'm curious to see the model but 40 euros is simply dumb  :-X

Rrp is regular retail price which is what GW set. I would expect indie retailers to sell it for around £25.

Rivindell Knights are also 40Euros, and are £30 over here. Presumably it'll be the same ratio.
