Hello, this is an army I have been using in the school league this year and I'm wondering if there is any room for improvement, without taking the fun out of the list?

I haven't had any problems as such; I've lost no games out of the 7 I've played this tournament with them but I'm wondering if I can further refine them for the National Final.

500 Point List

Army Leader: Balin.

Warband 1:

Balin w/Durin's axe
10 Khazad guard
1 Dwarf warrior w/Banner Carrier

Warband 2:

Gimli, Son of Gloin
7 Khazad guard
1 Dwarf Ballista w/ 1 extra crew

So, what do you think? Any constructive criticism is welcome

P.s. It may help to know that the scenarios are typically:

1. High ground
2. To the Death
3. Reconnoitre

And in the National Finals we usually play Seize the prize

Ballista really isn't worth it imo

I agree, khazad guard are awesome, but the balista can't fire into combat, which with deployment means after round 1 they are usually useless, I have 3 and can't really use them!
Dwarf rangers on the other hand....

Ehh... Ballista is more of a scare tactic. It is a magic magnet.
It is also helpful for keeping some monsters back.

Also keep in mine that the games are played on full sized 72x48 inch boards, so I actually get to fire it almost every round.

Please note that a lot of people also take large power monsters to the School League, such as the Dragon, the Mumakil and the Fell Beast.

Question about the balista; I don't understand the rules of artillery so if someone could please explain. Also can the balista move during the movement phase and what is everyones opinion on rangers?
