Indeed, I have both painted but would like to field a 750 army of the blighters and would prefer not to use duplicate hero models if possible. I suspect that it is conversion time!

I am delaying myself not to purchase Moria spiders until they release new spiders from Mirkwood. When do you think that will happen? After the second movie?

Or just before it, but probably next year

I'm not sure if i like this model or not, so I'm not likely to buy it.

I think it is a nice display piece but not so much a nice gaming piece.

I like my minis to take the rough and tumble of the table. This one just looks like it belongs on a shelf. Well at least to me.

Totally agree that it looks very flimsi as honestly I'm extremely disappointed. This was the model that more than any other Hobbit model I was looking forward to. GW may have just lost the last of my business with this one... Hello Warlord Games! Lol

That's a bit defeatist. Don't give up just yet. Gw still has loads of new releases coming up…

Have faith in them that they'll come up with something good. But it all depends on Peter Jackson originally…

Fili and Kili are only 30 or so. They haven't had a chance for their beards or noses to grow in yet.

As for the model, I want it. But not at that price. If it was $30, I would probably get it.

How can anyone criticize this model?!? The only reason I am not buying it is that I would never have the painting talent to do the model justice.

For a lot of reasons lol, it is a beautifully sculpted model, but it's gaming practicality is definately cut by the size of the base, which ill admit I probably should have anticipated. The cost is $50 bucks! I just started warlord games' Bolt Action and I can buy two T-34 tanks for that price, so with very limited funds I just won't spend that much on one model I'd barely game with.

Also it is finecast which is frankly never "fine". And to be honest I don't like the rabbits in it, maybe I'm wrong but they seem a bit crowded together (when compared to the movie).

But if they weren't, the base would have to be even bigger.

If I may steal a phrase from LOTR's elves it has been the 'long defeat' I started playing the game with its original release. Troops back then were 24 for $25, (which was made better by my local story's 10% discount lol) and heroes were between $8-$15. A metal cave troll was $20. Prices were what I would consider reasonable. But prices have increased ridiculously and the quantity of troops has been cut, and with the finecast so has the quality.

So my faith in GW has been tested over and over and finally lost. Still love the game, don't get me wrong. Just hate the excessive greed and stupidity I the company.
