Hey everyone I was planning to do a 500pt army with my wood elves and am asking for your help
These are my models:
-12 WE warriors with bow
-12 WE warriors with spear
-12 WE warriors with elven blade
-Thranduil
-2 WE warrior with banner
-2 WE Captain
-Gildor
-Legolas
-3 WE Sentinels

You could also add some wargear to Legolas for instance. I like to use Elven cloak to prevent any caster from targeting my heroes.

I think Rumil is a must to deal with any 100+pts heroes some may use in 500 format.

I'm not a big fan of 500 points for Wood Elves because you struggle to fit in useful models like Sentinels and Banners and still maintain numbers. I've went for a list here that has your two big characters in Legolas and Thranduil because both of them are far too useful to leave out. I added the cloak on Legolas because it's great protection from shooting and importantly from spellcasters. It gives you the option of leaving Legolas behind your lines and using his auto-hit ability to put pressure on enemy characters without being seen. On the whole Captains are pretty poor as they are expensive and don't really bring much other than a couple of might points and S4 if you hopefully win your fights. But it is based on what you have. If you're going to buy another character I'd recommend either Rumil as mentioned to deal with expensive characters and monsters or a Stormcaller to give you a cheap hero and greater access to natures wrath. It doesn't matter that you're D3 if the opponents are on the ground since they don't get to strike you.

I much prefer 600 points for Wood Elves as then you can start adding in the likes of Sentinels, Banners, Upgrades to your troops (Mirkwood Guard are excellent with a 2+ shoot value) and additional equipment like Throwing Daggers. Keep things like that in mind if you're expanding the army towards higher points value games.
