Welcome to the July Painting Challenge. The theme for this months challenge is ....

WHITE

Image

Sorry I didn't get chance to put the topic to the vote this month but it will be a vote as usual for August. Been busy lately.

Rules

To be eligible to enter the challenge the miniature you are entering must be predominantly white. This does not mean the entire miniature has to be white but please no painted dark coloured models with the "well his eye are white " arguments lol. Have fun with this one - White is particularly hard to paint with.

If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it.

This will be a single miniature challenge

1.To complete the challenge a miniature must be completed by July 31st.

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniatures 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of July 31st 2013. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniature off from multiple angles.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all

You can prime the model any colour that suits as long as there is plenty of white on your finished piece.

This is an interesting topic! I have no idea what to pick from my backlog, but there should be something that can be painted white. I can't wait to get back home to start digging through my unpainted miniatures...

Hmmm, is it allowed to paint Gil-Galad with a white cloak as an entry? Since his cloak is quite a big part of the miniature...

Ummm, got me thinking, White is going to be brilliant, IMO it one of the hardest to get right. Just have to think of the right figure, would like to do Saruman but he is more cream, unless we rename it the "off white" competition? (only joking by the way :-o )

My proof pic is a dwarf, don't know which one to be honest, but when I thought of it a white dwarf seemed a little apt. If I finish is the next question....

Thanks Goldman. The only dwarf I've ever painted was Gimli as I have never particularly cared for them. This challenge seemed a good excuse to get one of them out.

Would a white wood elf sentinel be acceptable?

I'm entering with a High Elf plastic archer (one of the original models that's over ten years old, but I never got round to painting). He's getting a full repaint.

I've still got an eagle sitting here on my desk screaming to be painted, so I'd like to enter that one. Would it be white enough if I'd paint it like a Harpy Eagle?
