Same with me. My Thorin's company has been unfinished since it came out. Maybe this will help.

I finished painting my "Riddles" Gollum on Sunday but really could do with getting on with Thorin and half his company that are still unpainted, so the timing of the challenge is probably quite appropriate for me, though I will try to finish a giant eagle, the Goblin Kings Throne and Yazneg foot and mounted that are all about two hours each away from being finished first!

Can we enter more than one Dwarf? It would encourage me to finish the company!

I reckon "The Dwarf Holds" is broad enough to enter a whole warband of dwarfs if you wanted ;)

Was thinking of doing some combination like Fili+Kili, or bifur/bofur/bombur :)

I have Thorin and half his Company, an Erebor Captain, a unit of Erebor Dwarves and Thrain assembled but idling on my to do shelf!

I bought most of the new releases as soon as they came out up until the release of Thrain. I have had due to work pressure and Girlfriend very little painting time recently, but have replaced TV and computer games with painting. Last night went really well and I feel back in the swing of things. Is also great seeing the huge backlog of Hobbit miniatures and scenery that are undercoated or unfinished, get finished and placed in the cabinet. I have hugely enjoyed the painting time whilst listening to music, which is what its all about. It really is very rewarding developing and exercising a skill which leaves you with a collection of (reasonably well painted, I would like to think) miniature, whereby TV and the playstation is unproductive!

I am close to finishing a 1,000 points a side Hobbit only miniatures Good and Evil armies, which I am looking forward to fielding on a goblin town scenery battle field. I feel that the Good guys need really need Thorin to complete the picture!

I feel the same way - I hardly ever play video games any more since I rediscovered LOTR minis. Painting brings me the lasting satisfaction of getting to see my finished characters on display in a case, whereas video games are more instant (and cheaper) gratification.

ahum.. could we stay on topic plz. Is August settled then? Dwarves!!!

I'll go and get a proof picture of my gimli online. Is it OK that the model is base coated before I start painting?

I have the unusual habit of base coating EVERY model I have before putting it away waiting to be painted.

I think that anyone objecting to a model that is only based coated might be a bit mean!

I'm thinking Thorin Oakenshield, but am not perturbed by a group of dwarves!
