I hope no one was hoping for releases this month. Just been reliably informed that the only releases are 40k space marine stuff.

No you may not ;) all they did say was that if there was something it'd be mail order only.

All 40K...even though it says the Hobbit on the cover. I am inclined to think they just list all the product lines.

This was the final magazine in my subscription and I will NOT be renewing. I miss the old WD's when they showed you how to build things, the 'Eavy Metal painting articles. I will pick up an issue from time to time, as long as I see something worthwhile.

This compiled with the craptacular castings of the Finecast line.....I may be leaving the LOTR hobby and moving on to other things.

Disappointing but I suppose we have the 2nd movie out soon. I don't think I've actually bought a white dwarf in about a year haha

I will add the word to my dictionary
Don't give up on LOTR just because you gave up on GW. It is not "the GW Hobby" no matter how many times they claim it.
I have been having a good time role playing LOTR again.

Well I finally did it, I rang GWs subscription line and cancelled WD after 15 years of subscribing! It's a big thing for me, really big. A sad day, my book shelf has lines of WD all in number order.
The phone operative asked me for a reason for cancellation, I said how can they put The Hobbit text on the cover and have no articles inside, she said the comment will be passed on GW .
I am not GW bashing, just telling everyone what happened. I will check WD out in the newsagents, if there are LOTR or Hobbit articles in the future I will buy it.

I am hoping with the new film around the corner....they will amp up the hobbit items.

As far as leaving LOTR......I would like too....my wallet would love too....but my son is now getting into the miniatures.....and I fear I may be painting far into the distant future!

I bought the Tau and High Elf WDs which the GW employee assured me had plenty of Hobbit articles.

"You should pick up the new WD, loads of LotR in there this month!"

Was pretty livid when the only Hobbit stuff in there was a picture of the lated releases with the prices. It should be free, it's just a catalogue these days.

Just my thoughts
VG

He clearly lied to you, so that would be grounds for a formal complaint I think. He effectively mis-sold the product (White Dwarf). And, seeing as compensation for mis-selling products is all the rage these days, you could threaten to sue.

At least we have a context for Azog's 50mm base now, I'd been wondering about that for ages. Turns out they were designed for those hideous new centurions.
