Knocked out a few for this months comp. C&C appreciated. Going to do them in all manner of colours, patterns etc. As if any one of them might have been in Thorin's company.

Tried some glazing on this ones face to give him a whiskey drinker's nose.

As I mentioned in the competition-thread already: simply perfect!
I LOVE the choice of colours, they look very natural and fit in perfectly with these fellas!
Great painting.. nothing more to add

(Ok.. maybe one thing.. the axe shaft looks a bit rushed, maybe it could need another slim line of light brown in the middle to make it look more wooden? )

Thanks. I'll fix that one later on when I'm doing more. Don't have the space to paint in my own flat right now, so will have to wait until I'm in my mother's house again.

it really depends on how hmm you wanna give the palantir, all the black or with the eye.
If its all black buy a black marble and try to copy the colours twisted around inside

Gene, you are showing some great progress with these. You seem to be getting the idea of glazes and the red whiskey drinkers note is a wonderful touch. I think the bottom dwarf is the best face.

Gave it another glaze and some highlights, which will probably have to be toned down. Tidied up a few bits. The contrast in the photo is more extreme than in reality.

I think you would do well to give it a green wash?

Thanks, I worked it up from a light green, adding some very light grey all along. In reality you can see it, but it's only a hint. The highest points are skull white which i'll tone down, and use a glaze to blend some of the harsher contrasts.

Thanks. It was only after I posted the photos that I noticed how much could be improved upon. Lots of going back and forth with it, hopefully the warg version will be done much quicker.
