I cast the "dead dragons" for Treefort Games Fantasy terrain set. I will paint them today while I wait for the molds to cure.

You potentially have the makings of 'Here be dead dragons' with a judicious use of the selection of bones in an appropriate arrangement. Could be useful in about 12 months time (hint hint) :)

I painted this for a Star Wars game Sand People scenario. I have been thinking about using some of the parts for a Dwarf gold mine. I was thinking about building a cave around the parts in the second photo.

For a dwarf gold mine i would add wing bones. Or does middle-earth have dinosaurs?
Wait! I forgot that there are wingless dragons in middle-earth, haha.

The hand bones will make nice wings. If I use the bones with the cavern floors I can make them less toy like.

I thought I would paint ogre furniture while I wait for the mold to dry.

I am getting ready to make some trees for Mirkwood. I have to make them thick but some how leave room for figures. It will take some more thought.

Pathways with raised sides could be an answer. You place the trees on top and so leaving the path for figures.
You couldn't do this all over but in a few places it may help.

I am going to make some fur trees.
First I need to make some trunks.

Image

I cut a 7/16 dowel in to two unequal parts and pointed them on the sander. I drilled a 6/16 inch hole in two plywood scrap blocks and marked them so I could remember later. The blocks will be handles and stands until I paint and make a base.

Image

I textured the tree trunks by pulling the dowel across the nails. This improvised tool is a weight used by florist to hold Styrofoam in artificial flower arrangements.

Image

It will be fuzzie so clean it up on a sanding block. Then Paint it black or stain it a dark color.

The next stage will be to cut AC/Heater filter into blocks. This is the cut to size product from Home Depot. The coarser the better.

Image

You can cut them any way you like. Star shaped seems to work well.

Image

After they are cut divide them by making two thinner parts.

Image

The next step is to cut a small hole in the center of each star and slide them over the dowel.

I am going to make two larger trees and then six smaller trees. I will paint and flock them all at the same time. Questions and comments and suggestions are welcome.

I'm very interested in this as I'm making some fir trees soon. I have gone for artificial asparagus fern for the branches.
I have planned to do the trunks very similar, cutting the taper and then roughing up the bark.
Looking at yours I would suggest the taper as more to a point, but then again you are the tree expert.

When I cut these I was thinking about drilling a hole in the end for a Woodland Scenic pine. I stained them and have painted one side of the filter. When they are dry later this afternoon I will take a photo.

I thought you would have a plan for the top. Watching with interest.
