Now the images have had time to sink in I think I'll have to get the Mirkwood Rangers sooner than later. I still have a whole load of old Wood Elves to finish off. Here's hoping there are some spare heads and bits with the new ones. I always liked the idea of the sentinels, but hated the models. These ones will scratch that itch for me.

I know the feeling, also they are better quality miniatures and work out cheaper than blisters of metal miniatures! I just hope that they have a great set of rules, preferably with a special ability!

I see, thanks.

I wonder how Beorn will scale up to Bolg, I think Beorn may be a tiny bit bigger.

New picture of Beorn with all the dwarves - which happen to be the plastic company version. Looks huge!

aha, he is pretty huge... maybe that explains the rather large pricetag people were complaining about ($25 for a single mini did seem a little high, though I don't know what that would translate to for GW prices in £).

I think most of the sculpts look rather good. I think the paint job on many of the figures is perhaps a bit thick (too many layers), and this obscures some details. This might be in an attempt to cover up finecast holes and miscasts. I am looking forward seeing how they look unpainted.

On the bad side, the prices will influence how much I actually purchase. The cost is prohibitive, so I'll just wait until summer when the boxes will appear on ebay at a more reasonable price. This goes double for the finecast figures. The price point is too high for sagging, bent, or otherwise imperfect figures.

I am VERY glad however, that the trend seems to be moving away from finecast (the Tauriel and Legolas sculpts were said to be plastics). GW does so much better on quality with the new plastics.

Not too big a fan of the Rangers, particularly the females, the skin tight leather isn't very Tolkienish. They look too much like Fantasy elves, in fact I could see these selling well just because Fantasy players buy them. The Palace guards are good except for the cloth over their faces. The spiders are disappointing in that you get 2 for so much money. The character sets are pretty good, and I might get Beorn for myself just because of his size. I wonder what his rules are like and if we'll see a bear before the third movie.

Upon further inspection , I may just get legolas and thranduil then call it a day. The plastic elves are just so expensive!

One thing I just noticed, the female rangers have recurve bows while the males have longbows. Recurve bows are generally easier to pull at the same weight, while longbows usually have a bit more power just because they're designed for thicker arrows. Interesting.

I'll definitely be getting Thranduil and the rangers, and Beorn too, if he has monster rules or something similar. I love monsters!

€35 for 10 plastic figs? Have GW gone Thrain levels of insane? I guess I won't buy any elves after all, not for that price.

Wow, what a fantastic release!

The palace guards look great, especially those shields, I like their look of combining the Galadrim and High elf armours.

The wood elves are far superior than the ones we currently have, its also really nice to see more female models on the board. I don't understand why people complain that it looks too much like fantasy when this is the exact same design as the film had it. Most warhammery models are just GW creations.

The Barrels out of Bond is the best release, I wonder how they could work outside of a scenario?

The spiders look great but I wish they had more poses.

Beron looks good, I'm looking forward to his bear form. He is rather big but I think he appears larger than usual in that picture because he's on a small hill.

Thrain looks really good and different! I can't wait to see his rules. I wonder if they'll be like Denethor's.

Thraundil also look very nice. I expect there to be an armoured and mounted version.

Tauriel has a good pose, I'm not too thrilled about the logs on the bases but it doesn't bother me too much.

Its nice to see Legolas in a pose where he isn't firing his bow. I believe there is only one poses where he is only wielding his swords which makes a nice change.

Thanks for the video! Some great looking minis but I was afraid that a price increase was lurking in the depths of Mirkwood...

The poses look clumsy, I will need to investigate the models first hand, the elves look really far fetched...
I wonder what that 50 euros kit is about, also I am looking forward to the journey book shown there.
The spiders look really small, we shall see.

50 euros kit is the hobbits in barrels, right?

A leaked WD photo
If I am not mistaken this is also a new ruin kit. I compared it to GW terrain kits I already have. It is new to me. Is it new?

The lines are green in the leaked price list because they will be direct only.
The poses for the rangers may be a mirror of what happens In the movie. In the trailer they are jumping around and being " dynamic" so maybe these models fit the movie.

I think that is just two kits "kit bashed" to make those ruins.
