Balancing scenarios is more of an art than Science . I hope there are clearly written rules for terrain.

There are new rules for forests 8) will make gameplay very interesting when used.

Still no ;)

An interesting point re smaug. I was told by higher powers that newline did indeed reject a smaug model because it was under scale. Apparently they want Smaug to have a total length (not wingspan) of 36" >.> apparently newline don't know the size table we go on. So that is all under discussion...

Furthermore, GW only have the license till the end of next year as they only renewed it for 2 years thinking there was only 2 movies. Basically, if DoS does terrible then they may choose not to renew it and we'll lose all those potential tasty models. So basically, buy as much as you can. The more money they get, the better chance of them keeping the license on for longer.

I agree with you on that SouthernDunedain!

I'm imagining right know how hard they are working to deliver us a great game with high quality miniatures. They do not produce the miniatures and rules for profit alone, they do it for us too, the Strategy Battle Gamer! And I think, despite all the negativities, they really want the SBG to keep existing.

Back to the release: I really like the mini's and the overall look is great. I can't wait to have a full Mirkwood Elf army on display! :D

Palace guard and Mirkwood Rangers. Tauriel is already built (got excited and built her as soon as I got it). Sorry about the quality, it is getting late and the lighting in my room isnt great for photos.

The Palace Guard frame looks pity packed. The Rangers though, looks like they could have found room for two more if they'd wanted.

Could I bug you for a pic of Tauriel's face? I'm interested if the sculpt is dodgy, or the paintjob was letting it down. Doubly so if you have Legolas.

Tauriel's face and a scale shot next to her BFF legolas. I'm afraid I don't have the new one. Didn't see the point when I already have sculpts I like.

After the 7th , can you please elaborate how you acquired these items Sam to me , i am very intrigued how you did.

I think you took possession of them from someone who is an independent stockist who sold you them before the release date and you cannot reveal who that person is or they would most likely lose their license... am i right :)

Well the rumours says there will be. That was the case with the big AUJ book, with the Grimhammers and so on.

So the only future releases we can count on is a few Lake Town models, a box of orcs and Beorn? I was really hoping for more minis out of this movie.
