It says how to add one in the FAQ but i can't find how to create one in the User Control Panel.

Go on user contol panel, then click profile on the left sude, then it will drop down and one of the options will be, edit signature.

You can't have images in your signature I believe. I haven't seen any.

Correct. Only text is allowed in signatures.

The reason for this is to stop distracting banners being spread throughout the site. The Avatar is there for you to use to add some personality to your posts and you can have a signature as well, to sign off any post.
Images in signatures quickly get abused/overused by members, and it makes the forums so much harder to read (and slower to download) with loads of distracting images choking up the display.
