Wow, this looks absolutely amazing Willow - great job! Can't believe how quickly you've got all this together. I wish I had the time, space, patience and talent to achieve something like this as I'm itching to give this scenario a go.

One thing though, is this for you? I thought you were very anti-Finecast so the Barrels minis are out of bounds (excuse the pun)?

Keep up the good work, wish I could hop on a plane and head over for a game!

Thanks.
You are correct the Fine Cast Issue caused me to stop collecting GW. I no longer preorder and buy every thing as it comes out. I am not a fan of $25 plastic figures. I did want the Out of Bound figures and got Lucky and got a well cast batch. I will keep then in a cool place away from the light. I understand there will be a Fine Cast announcement in March but that is for the news and rumor page. Lets shift the Fine Cast discussion to one of the FC links.

This project will soon be finished. I am working on a design for the back gate battle and may be the lock up. I would like some suggestions for additions to the river table and the future projects.

The double gate is half of the Warhammer bridge. I will need two large trees. There will have to be spaces for the figure bases to fit in the rocks. There are very good drawing in Chronicles III but I want to see the Movie again before I work on the gate and portcullis.

Have a removable option for the wharf where the dwarves met Bard and his barge.
The main board looks absolutely fabulous!

You could invent rules for barrel-bombur, so he can go on land and kick some orc-ass!
And this is for all haters of that scene:

I will add flock to these when they are dry. I will cut some small bark chunks to make some jagged out crops. Time to start on some trees.

I love this project so much! I am curious, I haven't seen the scenario so I don't know if those counters (the ones with grass and rocks) have a gaming significance or are they just to make the board look different?

The map was also in the White Dwarf. The counters are to give the river board some more options for different scenarios. The high grass and rocks can be shallow water the rocks can also represent rapids or a ford.
I have to make three rock features and three peninsula like features that are on the map. They will be modular like the island.
I also want to make the fallen tree bridge from the movie.

This just gets better and better! I really like the flexibility - a masterstroke and executed so neatly! It's only when you see the barrels on the river that the true scale of this endeavour becomes apparent.

Very good idea with the rocks, it makes the boards use far more dynamic. I can't wait for the trees.

Wow, simply stunning and inspiring!

Sorry to be a thread Necromancer here, but Charlie posted the link to this thread on a more recent one. I just had to stop by and give my 2 cents on it!

Last friday I picked up Woodland Scenic's new set of rock molds. They included the river bank and river bed set. I have only had time to make one cast. I decided to use the bank set to create a new medium and small river set and a new stream set. The old set was in one foot sections. I am not sure yet if I will do that again. I am going to add the WIP to the old Barrels out of Bound table WIP instead of starting a new one.

new molds

One cast of stream banks

Cast from the streambed mold

Cast from the streambed mold with a small Hirst Arts fieldstone bridge on one inch grid.

Hardboard bases with bridges. I have a few cavern river sections to make too. I will match the Dwarven Forge sections. I will use Realistic Water and resin for that. I will make the war game sets with Mod Podge like the table.
I am going to do a step by step WIP. I hope it will be helpful.

I like the look of those molds, I could have use for them in the future.
You are a master exponent at these boards Charlie, so a WIP would be very welcome to most if not all of us.
