Really nice work. What's your recipe for that very true-to-the-film look? Thanks

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you liked it.

First I painted them to black as coat. Then I "washed" them with a watered down Skull White. That is actually all I had done in the first pictures. Yet surprisingly it was very easy and come out great looking. Then I washed them with Biel-Tan green (again watered down just a little). Now I will probably highlight them a bit with waywatcher green.

Such a simple way to get great results. They look awesome.

Would not have expected such a simple technique to produce such good looking models. I'm liking the inclusion of the spectres too! :D

Yeah me neither. I am glad everyone like them! :D

I bought them from someone unpainted and it just included the spectres too. He must have bought them in the past and thought they go together or something.

And I am working on the Castellans now.

I like how you've added colour to them, they look miles better than the bland ones. The blue-grey of the cloak topped only by the Eldrich glow in their eyes. Very Dol Guldurish.

No offence intended - but I really hate these sculpts. They screech WARHAMMER from every angle. When you compare them to the AotD and the spectres above - chalk and cheese.

I thought they were more like Warcraft's Lich King.

I know nothing of Warcraft, but have suffered enough at the sight of Warhammer. Let me put it this way: if someone offered me the choice of 10 of those castellans or 2 AotD, I would plump for the AotD every time. Superior sculpts, far more detail, and they are not concocted by someone in a back room in Nottingham.

I can't complain much since I got them for free. They are certainly not one of the best LOTR minis but I think they are OK.

I started painting some 24 Mordor Orcs. First 3 done. I wanted to get some dirty look.
