Creaky, that is the best analogy I have ever heard and it perfectly explains how I feel!

Why the misleading title? A box of minis isn't a WIP...!? Nonetheless looking forward how you paint the minis! Tomorrow I'm getting my preordered Thranduil and Tauriel, I'm exited as a child on christmas :D

It kind of is a WIP :P

Anyway, actual update. Not elves though. Dale and a Pale Orc. Still loads to do on each.

3 elven captains. One of these will be a treat model when I finish the dale

I've got 9 dale archers to do which are in my own blue scheme...winging it for each part of the model but they seem to be getting there.

Looking promising so far. I like how the Men of Dale look like they're actually fighting in the city.

Hi, great looking Grimhammer army, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how your Mirkwood Elves eventually look.

I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to upload some sprue pictures of the Mirkwood Rangers and Palace Guard. I'm debating which item to ask for for Christmas, and what with other stuff I've asked for, my parents can only stretch their budget to one or the other. Unfortunately, the staff in my local GW weren't very helpful and declined to open the boxes to show me the sprues! http://www.one-ring.co.uk/posting.php?mode=reply&f=50&t=23570# So I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Why should the staff open a box that you arn't guaranteed to buy? Once the plastic wrapping is off, it cannot be sold as new therefore losing value. Anyway, I have sprue pictures somewhere, I'll upload them later.

Actually, yes, sorry, that was really stupid of me! I completely forgot they even had that plastic wrapping - apologies to my local GW then, that was my mistake. :E

Thank you for postingthe pictures though, I look forward to seeing them when they're up. Keep up the great work!

Nice work buddy

Kind of and not really? If you get what I mean. It did take me ages to get going on them but once I had got the colours I wanted sorted I enjoyed them. I've got 2 more archers, a dale captain and Thrain to finish then my erebors will be pretty much done :D

They look great buddy, really nice alternate colour scheme for the Dale warriors - if it was anyone but you I'd assume you were going to use them as Laketown proxies! :-D

That's a really nice, unique army you've built up, the banners look great. Hopefully I'll chalk up my first win against it this year! :-)

Top idea to use three hunters legless instead of the new plastic model. I actually think he fits in with the Mirkwood Rangers a lot better.

Nice job on the WoD. Looking forward to seeing the rangers!

Update time! :D

Two tester models for my rangers. Basically the same except one is Caliban green and one is castellan green.

Image

Also, my narzug mtd conversion. Fairly simple, narzug model chopped in half, hunter orc on fell warg base and some greenstuff.

Nice idea for the conversion but I have a couple of points. His right forearm looks too long and his legs are too thin.

Sneaky peak at some of the rangers from warband 1. These rangers are a joy to paint; which is probably a good thing seeing as I have another 10 to paint.

Been a lurker for a little while now, thought I'd pop on to get some inspiration for some Mirkwood rangers I might be painting soon, and speak of the devil!

Maybe you just need just a bit grass puffs or mushrooms on their bases and all complete and beautifully done :)
As tyou know mirkwood floor is 2 irregular and also be fond with lots of detail...
