Another beautiful piece. Does Missus Spectre read your blogs/posts, 'cos if she does, you might think facing Master Smaug trivial compared to the wrath of a woman whose coiffure has suffered discombobulation by spouse.
Doomed Marsh Spectre...
I would be terrified of breaking this piece - it would be condemned to the most secure corner of a display cabinet.

That Smaug model is a little hideous but your painting is spectacular as usual. Great speech bubble 8)

The dripping saliva is done in a totally different way to the UHU method.
I waited for my lovely wife to fall asleep before pulling a hair from her head (blonde hair works best or i would have used my own)
superglue the hair in place and tie something to the loose end to keep it straight. Now apply some PVA glue to the pulled tight hair.
Once the glue is dry cut to desired length and brush on water effects. You can keep applying the water effects until you have the desired look.

Thanks for the comment Mally.

Cheers Kev and note to self, visit Mrs DMS in her sleep...

Last of the Rivendell foot models completed for the army commission. All that is left now is three boxes of Rivendell knights and Elladan & Elrohir mtd... lol could be worse.

Only posting a small selection of the pictures here but the rest can be found in The Marshes
Thanks for looking and I hope you like them.
Big thanks to Dr Grant who sent me a pot of Shining Gold which enabled me to finish the many shields. Much appreciated mate.

:O Stunning. I love the detail on Elrond & Gil-Galad's cloaks, but there's definitely a lot here that's sweet on the eye. I'm sure your client is a very happy man!

You sir, have a redonculously large amount of talent. This is likely the most beautiful army I have ever seen painted. What recipe do you use for gold? I always find gold pretty tough to paint... The freehand on the cloaks is also incredible... it's so good it looks printed  Wow.

Your client must be one very happy fella...

Thanks Sid really nice thing to say that mate, means a lot!!

Gold.
Start with a basecoat of about 2 parts shining gold to one part chainmail.
Wash with devlan mud (i use Army Painter equivalent) - heavily diluted
Highlight using base colour with a touch more chainmail and a drop of water to keep the paint thin. add more chainmail for successive highlights. Gryphonne sepia diluted with a drop of water can be washed into random areas to create a bit of contrast.

Cheers for the comments guys.

Absolutely gobsmacked, these look incredible. You must have so much patience to be able to paint so many so well. How do you do the dirt on cloaks etc?

Dirt on the cloaks is first up a very light drybrush of bestial brown followed by an even lighter drybrush just along the very bottom edge of the cloak with graveyard earth.

water some scorched brown down maybe to 5 parts water one part paint and take an old brush (old drybrushes are perfect where the bristles stick out all over) dip in the paint mix and wipe most of the paint off the brush again. gently stipple (dab ) the brush against the model adding flecks and spots of mud.
