I spotted this on Beasts of War and immediately thought 'Sean Bean as Boromir the Viking'....

It would be funny to have this as a Dunlending chief or such :)

Wow, that looks nice! Any idea as to the scale?

Thanks for sharing!
The mini looks fantastic! He looks a lot like Sean Bean indeed. Quite fitting indeed as a Dunlending hero, or perhaps as a Fiefdom hero, a Dale hero or a First Age Beorian.

@ Lord Hurin: In their Kickstarter, it said they are 30mm scale. So, they might be a little larger than the old plastic minis, but they will probably still work great for heroes, especially with newer models.

So still qute a bit shorter than those bloody Rohan Royal Guard, eh?
Poor buggers suffer from gigantism, I'm sure of it!

Thanks for the info though!

But personal guards have often been selected for their added intimidation value, ie, size. And there were a few rather large ones among the cast -

True. I think it's more a case of the plastic Rohirrim being so small (and many of them in slightly stooping poses), but either way they looks quite silly next to one another!

I'd love to see that model's shield because that armour is very Lord-Eddard-Stark-y!

I'm wondering if this character has been inspired by two of Sean Bean's characters. You got the horn and shield (Boromir) and as DH pointed out, the armour a close match to Ned Stark's. As well as the facial features.

Definitely a nice model in anyway. Thinking I should pick up one now.

A couple of the guys on Beasts of War also pointed out the Ned Stark angle and to make it a pun, there is a Saxon flavour too as someone reckoned he would not be out of place in a SAGA warband.
Regardless, I think is is a fine sculpt. It is just great that it affords a range of possibilities.

Definitely a nice find there, Dorth. Hmmm... Would he be a fitting Thrydan, I wonder??

Boromir in 'plain clothes'
Boromir the Viking
Boromir the Saxon
Not-Boromir the Dunlending (possibly Thrydan)
Boromir of the First Age
Boromir of the Second Age
Darklands character Uhtred (what it actually is)
Eddard Stark
Gondorian fiefdom hero
Dale hero
Arnor hero

That is the 'range' of possibilities taken only from the posts above. I am sure people can think of more. It is a good sculpt though the sword might need to be made a little more fine to match the more realistic proportions of Middle-earth war-cutlery.

Oh I simply meant a pun off your use of the word "range" like LOTR range, Dreadball range and the like lol

Maybe the thread title needs changing to Boromir the Viking and Attila the Pun...

I really like the Darkland's stuff. Some of the sculpts are amazing, and the concept of a just massively overdone Dark Ages is brilliant. :)

Some of the minis just need the smallest tweak to fit right into Middle-earth - usually the reduction in weapon size (ie, swords that someone might actually be able to lift off the ground, never mind utilise). They are not cheap, but the quality is amazing and I am tempted by the idea of having a smattering of non-GW minis, playing as leaders/heros, and standing out from the rank and file figures, just for the Hell of it.
