Although being quite a veteran of the hobby here in Greece, I only recently started being interested in taking photos of my painting (and sometimes minor converting) projects.
So, hopefully, i'll be bombarding you with new stuff and old.
Be aware (and forgive) of my lack of experience in photo shooting.

I hope you enjoy this thread, of course, comments, criticism and suggestions are most welcome.

I'll be starting the thread with an old favorite. Back in 2006, i started painting the majority of my hobbits, though, as usual a good number of short fellas was left in a drawer. During January '14, i got them out of the vault and right now they're back in a suitcase. At least now they are ready and I won't be bothered again, especially by the barks of Farmer Maggot's dogs.

Behold, the (well, not so....) experienced fighters of the 4 Farthings of the Shire.

I'll continue later on with a big WiP, a one that's been a pain in the ... for long, long years, but which, at least now moves along!

Welcome to the forums and might I say what an excellent first post with some lovely painting. I'm sure others here would be more than happy to advise to on taking photos unfortunately I'm not one of them as I'm still finding my way around a camera myself.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your collection and if it is as good as these then we're in for a treat :)

Greetings, and welcome to the One Ring!

As CG said, this is an awesome introduction to the forum. Your hobbits are very well painted. The colors are very vibrant (which is how I have always pictured hobbits in my mind) and the basing is well done, too.

The photos look pretty good, especially the wider shots. Unfortunately the third shot, with Farmer Maggot, has a pretty definite yellow tinge. That is something to watch out for the next time you take photos.

I look forward to seeing more of your collection!

Those are some very well painted hobbits. A tip DMS gave me when taking photos is to use natural light (in a backyard or outdoor area but not in direct sunlight. In an area with a bit of shade.) Looking forward to more.

Stunning Hobbits - so many of them all in one place! Looks like the Scouring of the Shire. Beautifully painted and based.
As CG mentioned, you need to get to know your camera - know how to change the settings to get the most out of it plus also know the minimum focussing range - if you go too close, the minis will be blurred.

You have certainly started with a bang. Welcome to the One Ring.
Those Hobbits look great and is the biggest Hobbit army I have ever seen. The use of different colours for similar minis has made everyone look different, a great accomplishment.

Thanks for all your kind words. Sure thing is I, indeed, have to get used to my camera's settings. So I'm planning to re-shoot the hobbitses sometime soon. If I'm happy with the result, I'll re-upload them.

Now,let's go for something else...
Nevermind the endless project, I have to finish some elite troops, hopefully until tommorrow, so, instead I'll be showing you a very small portion of my elven heroes. I'm really proud of them, although some of them are a bit old exhibition of my painting skills.

First of all, the mightiest Elf Lord on Middle-Earth at the end of the Third Age, riding his faithful mount, Asfaloth.

Image

Next, are two pics of Lord Elrond,Lord Glorfindel,Lord (what the hell???are they all lords???) Celeborn and Erestor along with a banner bearer.
They're all painted using the NMM technique. I hope, my whole elven army will be painted like that sometime.

Check the War of the Ring base.
It's custom made, sculpted (where needed) and painted by a very good friend of mine, who also happened to teach me a lot of the stuff he knows regarding this hobby.
It's supposed to be used for the White Council. Believe me, the photo doesn't begin to make it justice. Guess, who's going to stand alone on the other side of the wall. Of course, Saruman.

Firstly, may I say this is some of the clearest photography I have ever seen. You will have to photograph my work.
The painting is truly wonderful and I love your NMM elves, very impressive.

Those colours! So vivid! Spectacular stuff.I wish I had your skills. You should be very proud. Have you considered commission painting? I'm sure people would love to have their armies painted to that standard.

...it was a WiP until yesterday. The, quite badly-sculpted, miniature of Madril was the last piece of the puzzle, of my half force of Rangers (the ones from Ithilien) to be more accurate. A pain in the ..., mainly because of the face, of which the resemblance to the actor is non-existent.
A thing to notice, is that i replaced the bows from the metal rangers with plastic ones. I really didn't like them, also the metal ones were the last troops to be painted about a month ago.The 12 of the plastic sprue were finished 4 years ago.
Anyway, we gotta move on.
For your eyes only :)

Rangers of Ithilien

P.S. Coming Soon... the rest of the Rangers along with some converted Osgiliath Veterans

The colours are very vibrant and very smooth in application. A great looking force.

Very nice, they actually bring to mind a painting of John Howe's (the main subject is actually and oliphant but they are there).

Really?I can't recall this specific piece of artwork?I'd like to have a look at it.

I think this will do... :)
It's a close-up of all 3 heroes from this warband.
Faramir was painted millenia ago,though.
