Hey all, since my last post was long and convoluted (and got no replies) I figured I would post just a 500 and 750 point army. Hopefully this will generate some discussion. I do not have any Orc Trackers, Black Guard or Gothmog though.

500 Points
Warband 1 - 202pts
Ringwraith on horseback (2M/8W/2F)
6 Morannon Orcs with shield
6 Morannon Orcs with spear and shield

Warband 2 - 112pts
Mordor Orc Shaman
12 Orcs with spear

Warband 3 - 45pts
Orc Captain with shield

Warband 4 - 141pts
Hunter Orc Captain
12 Hunter Orcs

40 models, 7 Might. 500 points exactly.

750 Points
Warband 1 - 314pts
Ringwraith on horseback (2M/12W/2F)
5 Morannon Orcs with shield
6 Morannon Orcs with spear and shield
Mordor Troll

Warband 2 - 112pts
Mordor Orc Shaman
12 Orcs with spear

Warband 3 - 112pts
Gorbag with shield
6 Orcs with shield
6 Orcs with spear

Warband 4 - 109pts
Hunter Orc Captain
8 Hunter Orcs

Warband 5 - 104
Hunter Orc Captain
4 Hunter Orcs
3 Hunter Orcs with 2-handed weapon

56 models, 10 Might. 751 points total.

My only concern is the very small amount that your army increases with the additional 250 points. You did dd a troll which is a massive piece so I think you're losing a little bit of your advantage of numbers. Not to say that your second list is bad at all but I believe your first (the 500 point one) Will do better at its respective points level

The 500pt one looks great, my only advice would be to swap the lone captain for a castellan. The 750 one looks okay, but there is little point taking a monster who has no might. Turn the troll into a troll chieftain, and maybe turn the wraith into a named one?

Both lists look like tough nuts though.

At 500 points I would drop the captain and upgrade the budget wraith to a named wraith on an armoured horse.
My best bet would be the shadow lord, if you are afraid of biw fire, the dwimmerlaik or the undying.

Thanks for the pointers, guys. My only concerns are that 1) I don't have a Castellan and absolutely despise their mini, and 2) I don't have any of the named Wraiths aside from Khamul and the Shadow Lord. Would most people be sticklers for wysiwyg considering there's only one Nazgul in the list? Could I just use my generic one and call him one of the named ones?

How can you call yourself a Mordor player and not have Gothmog? tut, tut

Can you swap a Hunter Orc Captain for a mounted named hero in the 750pts list, (which is labelled as being 500pts)?

I never liked any of Gothmog's minis. I can't even say I like the character being realized as Sloth from The Goonies either. Having said that, I never claimed to be a Mordor player :P

I can add Fimbul on Warg, but why? On foot, my Captain gets an extra attack 100% of the time no matter whether he charged, was charged or whatever else. For the extra 15 points, it impacts that significantly.

On a final note, I changed the points value on the second list. I had copied and pasted the first list, then adjusted as necessary. So the 500 is good, how's this for an updated 750?

750 Points
Warband 1 - 232pts
Knight of Umbar on horseback
6 Morannon Orcs with shield
6 Morannon Orcs with spear and shield

Warband 2 - 112pts
Mordor Orc Shaman
12 Orcs with spear

Warband 3 - 200pts
Mordor Troll Chief
3 Morannon Orcs with shield
4 Morannon Orcs wth spear and shield

Warband 4 - 101pts
Hunter Orc Captain
7 Hunter Orcs

Warband 5 - 104pts
Hunter Orc Captain with 2-handed weapon
6 Hunter Orcs with 2-handed weapon

49 models, 10 Might. 749 points total.

re: Fimbul - Higher Fight, Extra Might and Knockdown are your friends, but A Hunter Orc Captain is simpler to use I suppose.

Drop the two-handed weapon on the captain - give it a bow if you want to give it something.

Nice list though, seems fair enough.

Ah, I didn't realize he had higher Fight as well. The knockdown is good, yes of course, but he's still pretty squishy so I wouldn't want him to be getting too far away from support. My numbers are pretty poor as it is, can I really afford to lose 2 models?

Woah what? This seems totally the opposite of what I would do. I mean instead of a bow that you rarely hit on that slows your movement of one of the best killers you have on the field, you can put an axe to piercing strike and get plus 1 to wound. You'd run though basic troops at a rate of two per round if you're lucky. Why take a horrible orc bow?

1. Hunter Orcs two-handed weapons are maces not axes

2. You should never give a 2-handed weapon to a Hero, the hero is for winning the fights.

3. Orc bows because of no bow limit on Heroes, or you could drop all the 2-handers if you want to take Fimbul mtd, then you don't lose numbers.

I agree with Gothmog, take Fimbul. I wouldn't even bother giving the Hunter Orc Captain a bow, save 5 points and do something with it.

As for numbers, am I the only one who think 40 models is 500 points is massive? :o
Even your 750 point one should be alright with ~50 I would think, seeing as they aren't squishy Mordor Orcs or Goblins, they're Morannons with D6. :)

Yeah, I've only played a handful of games with the Warband rules. I think I'm still thinking like I need 50 models in a 500 point force (much easier when you didn't need so many Heroes!) and assuming my opponents will have such numbers. I need to keep in mind that the opponent will be facing similar constraints.
