I have dozens and dozens of Moria Goblins to paint which until now I have delayed as I pretty much despise/disagree with the GW colour scheme. Is there any alternative colour schemes? How have you guys painted yours.

Frankly, you can paint them whichever way seems best to you!

I have a whole bunch, unpainted, but I wasn't going to deviate too strongly from the studio job. Basically a bunch of de-saturated blues and greens, accented with black and the odd splash of red

Well I am trying out several paint schemes at the moment, But also find it hard to get a fitting colour scheme.
You could experiment simply by changing there skin and eye colour.
I am currently trying out the skin colours of Mordor uruk-hai. It makes very dark goblins :)

For myself I've painted all my Moria Goblins a more sickly green for the flesh, a dark/rusty silver for plate armor, deep bronze for chain-mail, and a mid - brown for the cloth. All this together makes them look far more scavenger like than GW'S bright red etc

Here is a picture, of my goblins, this is still a colour scheme experiment, but I do like them a lot more dark (although the picture is a bit bright), This also has to do with the plan to be using them in a balins tomb diaroma :)

Brown, Grey and Blue all go really well on the goblins - its just a matter of keeping them dulled down. I prefer to stick to the olive green look for the skin, leaning towards yellow as they were described in the books.

Thanks for the help guys. Keeping the colours dulled down seems to be the best way to go. The idea of rusty and dirty armour is very appealing, as they are scavengers in the book so the GW colour scheme just did not seem to ring true. I may apply a heavy wash over the skin just to tone down the green.I really like your goblins Jellier.

thanks! A heavy wash works wonders sometimes, especialy with creatures that are meant to be 'dirty'. :)
