A little belated as I've been away on holiday but heres the May challenge thread. I've left it pretty broad so go wild.......

THE FORCES OF DARKNESS

Image

Welcome to the May painting challenge. This month will be a single miniature challenge and is open to anything at all from the Forces of Darkness. Only one model can be submitted for the vote.

1. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

2. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of May 31st 2014. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos please, this allows you to show your miniature off from front, back and each side which is more than enough. If you would like to compile more than one pictures into one file it is ok to do that

3. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

4. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all!

Just started to paint two Lurtzes this weekend.. technically it is the month of may, but practically I don't have a pic of proof of the unprimed models now.. Is there still a chance to enter them?

Yes i will allow this as the lateness of the thread going up is completely my fault. Take a proof pic of where you are now and use that buddy.

Ah I was already wondering when I could start on my next mini, I like it that I have so much freedom to choose, with the fact that I will be forced to paint something else than elves :)

Still got some mumaks to paint up, but I doubt I will finish one of those in a month, any experience with them someone ?

Once the green stuff work is done then the actual skin painting is very quick. More time is spent with the Howdah though, there is a lot of little areas to paint.

Its funny how different people approach the same model in different ways. For me I spent a lot more time on the mumaks skin and tusks than on the howdah. The howdah was quite quick.

Difficult one that. I would say it would have to be the ballista itself or one of the crew. It would be unfair on other entries for me to allow you to enter with 3 models and warmachine into a single mini challenge. Good question mate.

So here it is then, my pic of proof. Thanks for your kindness once more DMS, it's nothing I take for generally granted :)
Will decide which of them I enter when they are finished.

Well thanks ! , I think I will need alot of time for it, so with having to do the last bit of studying untill summer this month, I guess I will pick a smaller model :)

Haha a little unorthodox but pretty dark i guess. Nothing in the rules to say otherwise so why not.
