Hello! I am a newbie here, my other half (Dezartfox on this forum) introduced me to this forum, and also to the wonderful world of painting miniatures. I started learning to paint, using the help of various tutorials along with his guidance, around about a month ago now. I really enjoy it! I've never had any artistic experience, I've never really been good with art to be honest but there's something about painting miniatures which I thoroughly enjoy, plus being a big Hobbit/LOTR fan it makes it all the more enjoyable.

Anyway, I thought I would sign up and post some of my recently completed models and a couple of my current WIP's. I would greatly appreciate any hints/tips and comments, I know I'm not great but as I really enjoy it I am keen to improve!

Thanks for reading! :)
Amy

Here's a photo of my current WIP the Hunter Orcs on Fell Wargs.
I will post some photos of my completed photos a little later :)

I'm unsure whether this ruins the base or not, but I decided to use one of the dead orcs that came with the pack. I stuck the orc and warg closer to one side of the base in order to fit the dead orc on. I wanted it to look as if the orc had died in the middle of the battlefield and the warg was leaping over him. I might have gone a bit crazy with Blood for the Blood God but after a first coat, because I gave the orc a green skintone, it didn't stand out as much. So, I thought it might be good to add some to the side of his head applied onto the grass. What do you think?

I have now completed these and will post some finished photos when I get some taken :)

very well executed for sure, keep it up!
one thing is, if i'm not mistaken, orcs are supposed to have black blood.

If you go by the movies they're a red-black blood

I must admit you have chosen a tricky figure to paint. I am not a fan of the wargs and I don't think the sculpts lend themselves to be painted well, maybe it's just a personal choice.
I like the base though, plenty of claret can never be a bad thing.
With Tim in your back room staff I am thinking you could progress very very quickly, he is a wonderful exponent of his art.
Furthermore, I was delighted to see someone from as near as Brid on this forum, but you are the first I have seen on any forum from the same city, welcome.
P.S. If you are ever in GW Hull, that is my Bag End in the front window.

Nice work. Never be shy about painting on blood. Fighting is a messy business and lots of it gets spilled.

Ah really? I couldn't recall from the movies what the colour was. Thanks for that though I will keep that in mind! :)

Thank you all for your comments, I didn't realise that they were considered hard models to paint. I did find some parts of them difficult but I've enjoyed the challenge :)

First off welcome and secondly what a great start to the hobby (certainly better than I achieved when I first started) :)

Very solid for such a short time. You seem to have all the basics down really well. Gonna be seeing some really impressive stuff off you before long.

Love that bag end, it's fantastic :)

I was just saying that she's picked very difficult models to start painting, radagast on foot and sleigh, azog and now some orcs.

Thanks Tim, I hope to replace it soon with my troll diorama

Here are some photos of my last project, Azog the Defiler on foot and mounted on the white warg. I really enjoyed painting this model! I painted this following the tutorial by Garfy on Tale of Painters.

I decided here to splatter some blood on his back, to make it look as if he was repeatedly bashing someone with his mace. :P

Good grief Amy, aren't these amongst your first figures ?
They are fantastic by anyone's standard. You seem to have found a talent.
