Picked up a metal mounted Glorfindel for $5 in a bits box at my local games store, my question is - is this model out of scale with the rest of the mounted elves? Next to Elrohir the Glorfindel model almost seems warhammerish.

You are correct, he is a bit bigger than the twins, however he is fairly close to a warg rider, so I'm not sure what is happening there. I think the face is a bit out of proportion though.

I believe he was one of the earlier all metal mounted heroes and perhaps thats why he is out of size a little?

He seems too outsized for my taste, though I do like the pose. Is the foot Glorfindel big as compared to the other models as well?

He was a mid range metal, but there were only a few mounted models at that stage. I would put it down to a combination of things including that, maybe a new sculptor, it being a whole body cast maybe GW didn't have the best experience with (at LOTR scale), Glorf being very powerful and so on. I think that the main thing GW was going for was dynamic poses with Glorf and the original twins (who are larger than the armoured twins), so somewhere in that design, they just got it bigger.
The foot glorf would be a tad bigger, yes, though I don't have him to hand. Nothing too off putting in my opinion.
