So here's a quick update of what I am working on at the moment. I wonder if the mountain-king has noticed what's lurking there behind his back.. ^^

Gollum looks gorgeous mate - really love the moss on the rock. Like the way the dwarf King's coming along too, I'm feeling a lot of love for the 2001-2003 era classic metals at the moment (just finished painting captured Merry and Pippin myself) so it's nice to see some other old models getting some love!

Ugluk is always a bit of a git to manage as he is so recognisable.
Gollum - fantastic.
Mountain King - great painting. What will be lurking on his base (ignore the warg)?

Your comments are very motivating, thanks fellows!
@Dr. Grant: I know what you mean. To be honest: I don't own a single mini from the hobbit range atm, mainly because the prices of those I am interested in are insane.. but I don't want to start that topic here.
Nevertheless I really like the old range as well and it's nice to see that some of us here feel the same way :)
@Dorth: Well, I have no idea yet.. I think I will go for a stone floor to represent a dwarven hall.

In other news I have quite a few updates:
First of all, after quite a while I managed to finish my berserker 'squad'. The best part is always when they are almost finished and you can go for the gore and free-hand white hands :) I think I will buy some blood effect paint though (is the GW one any good? It's the only one I can buy in my area..), to finish the look. Excuse the bases again please, I am a bit lazy with that part lately..

Image

Next: the finished grimwarg. I went for a northern touch, hence the snow. For the colours I decided to give it a real wolf-ish look and icy blue eyes, which I think turned out just fine. Once again the final touch will come with a hint of blood effect paint on the grimwarg as well as on his prey. I also noticed that the snow on the cloak needs another little makeover..

Last but not least the Dwarf King. Finished painting-wise, but still in need of a decent base.. (ideas appreciated ;) )

Image

I hope you enjoyed the update :) C&C is welcome as always!

I'm not normally a big fan of snow bases but for you I'll make an exception.

Really well done, very realistic.

Dwarf king : amazing work on the eyes and on the axe, really loved it!

Warg chieftain : really love that you made scars on his body and the base is also amazing! actualy the whole model is amazing both on painting and the sculpt (thats credit to GW :P )

A nice colour scheme here, liking the reverse colours of dark on top and light underneath.

Good work all around :yay: the warg is very well done, you really nailed it.
You've also nailed the skin on the berserkers, it's spot on. I like the blood on the swords, but it is kind of lacking. The GW blood effects are decent, I used it on my troll chieftain as well as my haradrim. You could also just paint a layer of gloss varnish over the blood to make it look wet.
Good job, and also congrats on winning the May painting challenge( really late I know), you deserved it :yay:

the Warg is just brilliant, the white underside works really well.

I greet thee my dear fellow one-ringers!
First of all thanks a lot for the nice comments I received on my work :)
Unfortunately I once again lack time (and to be honest also motivation) to make serious progress with the hobby, but I hope to be back at it in a few weeks (or in the worst case: a few months..).
However here is a small update:

First of all Legolas. I tried to keep the colour scheme close to the original (for example the brown leather chest armour, green gems on the quiver and silver ornaments on the bow.. ) and am quite pleased with the result.

Image

Also after way too much time (look at the first page of this thread.. >< ) I finally gave Mr. Bilbo a decent base.. the idea is to someday make a small dioramic piece of Bag End's front door and lawn, where I can integrate this mini :)
Image

Last but not least the finished Grimwarg. A few more details like bloodstains, blood effect paint and saliva were added as finishing touches :)
