I always felt that the Easterlings were a bit hard done by in the final cut of RotK - we should have seen a little more of them.
Very nice work - I like the conversion.

Thanks everyone for your comments! :)
After painting all those easterlings i decided to make a little break and review my main army, Fiefdoms! just so i a change the theme for a while and not paint the same things over and over.
So after having them in the shelf for a long time i want to make over my entire fiefdoms army both as painting and converting.

If i understant the rules i have to post any pics/progress here and not make any new topic right?

How did you achieve the nice black to red blend on the black dragons?

I love the trimming on the cloak. Great conversion overall. The only thing I would say is that the red eyes on the horses are a tad bit over done. They look more evil than ringwraith horses.

I am sure other painters here use much better techniques but what i did was to paint the black parts first like normal, shades, layers, highlights without any red. Once black was 100% finished i start painting the red but horizontal, meaning all the shades, layers, highlights based on red were painted horizontal and the black vertical.

Thank you very much! I understand what do you mean, when i had painted my mounted dragon knight i did the same eyes on his horse and they looked amazing, but that was an armored horse and an elite warrior on top, here on the chariot i see your point and on a second look i agree with you :)

The red on the horses eyes is a really nice touch. Have to remember that. Inspiring work.

So as i said before i want a little break from the easterlings so i am remaking my entire dol amroth army. I want to give my knights a more warlike look and to look more like knights rather than lotr-ized warhammer high elves.

I have changed their helmets with the same type as the plastic mounted knights set, added scarfs to give a small touch of desert and to cover the connection of the new heads to the body, masks and dirty clothes.

Also i never personaly liked the blue like theme of dol amroth, it looked way too ''good'' so i replaced it with grey to give the touch of an army at war rather a shiny knight.

I have finished 3 knights + Elphir (captain)

They look great. I know that with Blue being the book description on them so everyone uses it and it gets rather boring... The grey looks nice and works within Gondor.

Why desert gear (just curious)?

I really loved the fact that you swapped everyone's helmet.
The old metal ones were horrific and the main reason I, until now, have refrained myself from buying anything from that range.
Do the plastic mounted ones have spare helmets? Because if they do, I may actually start to think it over... :?
The captain looks great, the change on the paint scheme is actually nice and interesting (even if it's not in conjuction with the book description) and the scarves are looking great!
Did you use the technical GW colour for the bases that was released a year or so? Were you satisfied with it?

P.S. Is there a snake at the captain's base?? :)

It is from the plastic set of mounted knights of dol amroth

Thank you very much.
Dol amroth has fought countless times at the borders with harad at harondor, I decided to give a desert theme for my next terrain project, the fort of Celentir.

1-I agree 100%, the old helmets were really over sized and looked more like warhammer fantasy.
2-Sort of, the plastic set has one spare head witch i used on my captain and 6 plastic helmets, however i casted the ones i use for myself with 925 silver (gives the little more value aswell :P ) and i dont wish to hide it, it is only for personal use anyway.
3-Yes the colour for the base is the one you mean and i am really satisfied with it, it makes cracked earth look very nice within some hours only and it is easy to use,i recommend it for desert bases.
4-Yes thats a snake having its head crushed under the plate boot of the captain, sort of symbolic to my theme aswell (snake being the symbol of the haradrim) :P
