AS the title says I'm a tad stumped as to which colour I should paint my WoMT. My Dwarves are red and blue
my easterlings are dark green and silver
my elves are red and white
my orcs are red and silver
my haradrim are brown and beige, Red and purple, turquoise and yellow, blue and brown.

I just don't want this army to simply look like the original design, nor do I want it to look anything like any of my other armies either...

Pink and green are the obvious answer lol.

But in all seriousness I'd say blue and gold maybe? Or a copper as opposed to gold

What about a blackened armour (not uncommon in medieval/ renaissance times), with white cloth. Very Gondorian colours, a striking combination and different from everything else in your collection.

On a side note, I think it mentions Black Armor a couple times for the Gondorians... so it is a very good idea..

A couple of ideas of the top of my head - you could try mixing a bit of silver/metal into black. Not enough to turn it silver, but enough to give the black a metallic sparkle. Or, if you got a pot of clear gloss varnish you could give the plain painted black armour a coat of it to give a very shiny polished/lacquered effect.

To break up the large patches of black, you could try highlighting any edges to the armour plates in silver, or gold, if you like. Look up 16th/17th century armour for some inspiration on that front.

How are your painting skills? The reason I ask it that I think a black armour colour but with silver patterning on would look amazing.

The helmet on the far left it what I was picturing, but with a black background and silver motifs? Could look quite stunning alongside a dark blue tunic with white details?

I have no idea what it might be called now but there was a paint in the old collection called Gunmetal and it was so dark I may have even used it on parts of the Balrog! Don't know if it is still around but it might look good with a light silver pattern or highlight on it... Just an idea for the black metal.

I am testing various things, I will use a dark green ink mixed with some black to shade the armour, if that doesn't work then I will revert to black armour

No, at least I don't think! (Using the old Paints range because the new one I haven't got the hang of yet!) Mithril Silver was the lightest then Chainmail was the medium tone followed by Boltgun Metal which was dark then the darkest was one called Gunmetal! I may be imagining it or maybe getting my ranges mixed up but I do think it existed...

I think you're mixing up your paint ranges. ;)

Boltgun Metal was the darkest citadel silver.
