Just before the first Stockport tournament, Suicidal marsbar put up a nice thread that led to the discussion of lots of different armies that were heading along (for those who dared to post their lists ahead of time of course )

I'd thought I'd try and do something similar here.

So I'm bringing along the riders of Rohan!!!
-Eomer, Knight of the Pelannor, armoured horse
-Erkenbrand, Captain of the Westfold, horse
-Eowyn, Shield maiden of Rohan, horse, armour, shield, throwing spear
-4 Rohan Royal Guards, horses, throwing spears
-6 Westfold Redshields with throwing spears
-7 Westfold Redshields
-Westfold Redshield with Banner
-3 Outriders of Rohan

I am fairly happy with the list though it could probably use a couple more royal guards but am content with only having to paint three more riders and dress up the rest (had to paint the entire army in just over a week last time!)


What's everyone else bringing and how's their painting going?

Looks solid. No sons of Eorl makes it pretty ballsy ngl. However if you think that's ballsy wait till you see my 600 point bad boy:

That does look like a fun list, it would be nice to see how an all men list would fare.
If I were going, I'd proberbly take this list, walking on Dunedain's precipice.

Something I have wondered is if there is a difference in sort of lists you see in the northern tournements.

That's a scary amount of Wood elves their Longy. Don't think its that far off from Jamie's wood elf list. Did you go for the Mirkwood guard upgrade at all?

In regard to different styles of list, I don't think it tends to matter much on the North South divide. Players are pretty varied across the board and most have more than one style of army they bring.
Just about every tournament I've been too has had a pretty big mix of armies, sometimes if they're weighted with certain scenarios you see more of one style list than another (like at the start of the year Malice in wonderland had some smaller than usual boards with limited terrain so all hero was very popular, I took the three hunters, they drew uruk scouts in the first game!!)

Also some players start really getting to grips with one list and so keep using it they even start gaining a reputation/legend for using said list like Thermo's Rohan or Dr. Grant's ferals.


Well we're now less than a week away, my rohan will desperately need 5 fresh riders painted and as much effort as I can spare on the rest. Did a quick Eowyn conversion yesterday so have dropped her spear and down graded one redshield in favour of an extra royal guard and two more throwing spears.

Anyone else got a painting race before 2.0?

All my painting is done but I keep tweeking the list. Had 3 practice games today at WHW and did well.
My most recent list looks like this...

12 spears
1 banner

10 elven blades (+TW)

I know I should use more spears and fewer EB's but then i'd have to start painting dots on the bases to show where the TW's are and i really cba to do that

And no i didnt go for the MG upgrade. Did in my original list but thought id rather have 23 hits on 3's than 12 hits on 2's. Did a bit of play testing and the TW's were really helpful, not saying it's the right choice, just the one i prefer

Hey Longy, yeah I should be around on Fri, at this rate may still be painting though. Managed to get a fair bit done last night but will still be close.

I have to say I love throwing weapons atm, I left the last stockport wishing I'd given a spear to every rider, which is probably why I've added so many more to this list.


Nice mix of things there Quindalf, I've seen first hand what happens when old Thrain keeps passing his bererker roll lol, messy.
