I was hoping for something new and nice on the pre order section, or some great christmas ( still far away) discounts. But I found that they actualy rereleased the starter set, with some paint etc. I doubt there is even a dicount on it.
I Just hope they want to get rid of all their goblin town sets, before a new starter set will arrive... I must say for someone who would not be used to the prices we pay ( I am used to it ) This is an enormous amount of money to start a hobby.

So actualy I bring no news with this topic, but nonetheless I let you all know

I do not think this will be all for the Hobbit for Christmas. I mean if they do not release something new for the hobbit premier will be just terrible for them.

Fantasy and 40k also have bundles out (same thing happened last year from memory?) and they can't very well advertise unrealised models can they? Obviously last year they realised quite a few models in december and none of them were in the Christmas bundle.

Next WD is supposed to feature some hobbit "Single releases" alongside a WFB End Times book (that has no accompanying minis), based on some one report. No images, or details yet. Single releases could be anything from "Not a boxed game", to single packed "character models". Expect more info next week.

This is just the prelude - the christmas hobby stuff that they do each year, and a bundle of each starter set for the three games and some stuff to go with it. Fairly standard stuff.

The topic title 'NO NEW MODELS' is not meant as in : oh noo no new models, but more like, this thread is NOT about new models, but about a rerelease

It's not a rerelease though - it's not been out of stock or unavailable. It's just a bundle of already released boxsets with the paint kit.

As Creaky said Its the christmas starter bargain bundle that they do each year. And we wouldnt be expecting models based on last year till the week before the film. So wouldn't that be the Saturday the 29ths WD and GW Preorder with a Saturday the 6ths release?

That's the date I'd been expecting to see something by, but early WD reports indicate that we might see preorders for something on the 22nd (basically, the WD 'teaser' for the upcoming WD is to do with the Warhammer End Times, but apparently it's a no model release, so just a book, and apparently accompanied by some Hobbit minis).

Hopefully we can get some more details/confirmation in the next few days. Or the people who get WD early and take photos for 40k and wfb can just ignore it until the last minute like last time, whichever.

Looks like we'll get some Hobbit stuff finally! It's most likely some of the unreleased DOS stuff, I'm really hoping for Bard seen in the DOS book.

It does seem to suggest - vaguely - that there won't be a BoFA starter set, however.

Not that already having a "holiday bundle start set" out would stop them from releasing another starter set, three weeks from now. But it does seem to tip the balance of evidence towards a DOS style release (plastic kits, rulebooks, resin characters)

Dreaming of getting back to painting...any month now.

We're still a month away from the movie release, they won't start releasing stuff until a week before the movie at the earliest, meaning we'll know about new stuff on the 5th at the earliest. Save the "I don't think we're getting anything!" comments until then.

Granted, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get a BoFA set, just because EfGT hasn't sold particularly well.

Is this really anything to worry about? I doubt GW would suddenly stop releasing for the final Middle Earth instalment after supporting the first five and having a licence until 2017. They would lose a lot of credibility if that was the case. They were originally supposed to be 2 movies. So I still think that is the reason why the releases for DOS were so few and far between. Remaining optimistic.

Originally, when it was to be two films, film #1 ended with the barrel escape. This is where the GW Desolation of Smaug source book scenarios end. To me, it seems clear that everything we've seen from GW so far corresponds to what the first film originally was supposed to be.

When PJ decided to go to three films, it put GW and other manufacturers in a tuff spot. I really hope (and expect) that we will see the second half of DoS stuff released soon (Laketown Scenery and other misc models). Hopefully, a Smaug model is coming soon as well. I guess we'll know the truth in the next month or so.

The Preorders are supposed to go up tomorrow (Friday). No need to panic yet.
