Thanks Argish.

Some good looking minis in there, although others are a bit awkwardly posed by the looks of it. Thranduil leading a group of Mirkwood cavalry will look amazing, such a pity you'd have to sell not one but both your kidneys to get an army of those.

So are seeing the models, what everyones prediction on the profiles for them?
Surely not a photocopy Galadhrim warrior for the Armoured Mirkwood warriors?

I would say yes to the galadhrim comparison, and I would assume the same with the elven cavalry aswell. However my thoughts is that Thranduil might get a rule of some kind for his twin elven blades, like a three attack King of Mirkwood???

I'm going to throw it out there and say that this is the single nicest looking release set for The Hobbit so far. Those are simply staggering minis!!! :D

I'm afraid I might have to get all of them - apart from Tauriel, simply because I'm not a fan of her character  Still a nice miniature though...

Can't wait till I can pre-order them!!! :) This bodes well I think for the rest of the minis to be released for this final film - if they all maintain that standard of sculpt and character then I will be extremely happy! Can't wait to get my hands on them!!! :D I have to say well done GW for some great-looking elves! :)

Thanks for the pm. Have to say the foot troops look great as does legolas, tauriels face is a little dissapointing and so is thranduils( no elk very upsetting)

The face that every basic troop and the cavalry are finecast is a huge letdown, my goal is to recreate the battle of five armies so to have one army so far completely made of finecast hurts. Really hoping the whole range isn't all finecast but I have a sinking feeling now it will be finecast troops all round

Well, it would be surprising if the double-bladed spears would only count as a normal spear, wouldn't it? Maybe especially strong (extra attack) when supporting, even though that makes absolutely no sense with that weapon and how it could logically be used.
Other than that, it's tricky. Don't think anybody predicted the rules for the Mirkwood Rangers, but e.g. the Rivendell Knights are exactly as one would expect a bow and lance armed Elven warrior with heavy armour on horseback to be.

A Scythe isn't a common weapon in The hobbit or Lotr so maybe it will get a special weapon strike like "If the model causes a wound it counts as 2 wounds" because of its double blade?

I can see the Mirkwood Knights being pretty much Palace guards on horseback? They don't have shields which I find interesting? Which is why I think they will have a separate profile to the foot warriors because otherwise I know where my Palace Guard shields are going!

I especialy like the swordsmen, The bows on the archers seem a bit small to me for elven bows..

Heavy or normal armour ?

Looking at the armour it could be heavy or normal armor, both options are possible I think, Since I do not spot that much difference between palace guard armor and ord. warrior armor.
The description mentions armoured, but with the captain it says Thick armour, thinking that normally the captain has the same armour as its soldiers I am hoping that there will be finally Heavy armoured GOOD looking elves again. although screaming expensive...

And what use whould ordineary armor be against al those str 4 orcs...
Although I had that same thought with the galadhrim who have a dissapointing d of 4 while wearing multiple layers of elven armor.

Argish and Coenus : Thanks for sending!

Most look pretty good. I was holding off on plastic Tauriel in case they came up with a better one, but I think I'll go for the plastic. Like the Legolas, but I have too many. Thranduil doesn't look all that good in the face, and the horse is a slight let down (This model has probably been ready for 2 years or more, I'd say changing it to an elk was a last minute change). Mirkwood troops all look pretty good, but it's an awful shame they're finecast (pricewise). Captain is the standout from the range, and the mounted ones.
