got the pics... Very cool, disappointed about the horse instead of the elk, but I like the heroic pose.

Not happy about fine cast troops. £15 for three is too much for me.

Models look great but I don't see how GW expects anyone to field enough troops for a viable Five Armies battle. The swordsmen descriptions say they make up the bulk of he forces, yet we have to buy them in packs of three?

Not sure what to do with this release but the sculpts are very nice.

it all looks good, but cant get over the fact they mounted Thranduil on a horse..in every scene where he's riding something its an Elk
Tauriel looks a little...bland for being the orc whooper she is.
Mirkwood infantry and cavaly looks good
foot armored Thranduil...a lil weird judging from the pic
legolas same as his daddy above
still will likely be getting them all...minus Tauriel..just to bland for my taste

If they were plastic, I'd grab at least one box each of the infantry and cavalry. As it stands, though, it looks like I'll be sitting out this set of Hobbit releases, too. Ho hum.

I held off on getting any of the plastic armored Mirkwood elves from the last movie because I was holding out for the plastic elf infantry to go along with this movie, but obviously that's not happening, so maybe I'll grab a box of them. Or maybe I'll just settle for the old plastic elves I already have, which has gotten me this far and works just fine.

They messed up Tauriels face...again
Legolas looks promising thought.
Thranduil looks alright.

Funky looking spears, didn't expect that. Maybe they can use them as spears and 2hweapons like the Axemen of Lossarnach? The bows look a bit short on the archers. It's a shame they are all finecast, there goes my 10 plastic elves box idea out of the window. I do like the sword and spear elves, and the captain. I really like the helmet design.

Mirkwood cavalry? Will they be finecast too? I hope not.

That's my 50 øre.

It's just me or the new elves don't have anything to do with the elves in the movie?

Image

If that's the best they can do with the helmets in finecast It's something to cry about.

You're right. The lower half doesn't look quite right to me. I have to say I don't like those double sword spears either, though I doubt that's a GW thing. I think for me it'll be Galadhrim Warrior conversions. None of the new sculpts really get there in my opinion.

Will this be all for December?

I think it is more of the paint job its missing some details en colours,
They made the cloth and cape to much appearant in the picture whil in the movie, just as in your photo you barely notice the cape becouse the figure is not in motion.

wait a minute - are the cavalry finecast? they don't look too bad, but altogether i am not really happy with these releases. without the obvious complaint of being in Finecast, I simply am rather underwhelmed by the sculpts.
Legolas mounted looks sleek and cool, but the foot version looks like he's struggling to lift the heavy sword. Is he riding a generic plastic sculpted horse?
Tauriel isn't bad - rather similar to the second Arwen sculpt. She looks preoccupied, as if she's fighting several orcs at once. Suits her character.
Thranduil on foot looks awkward and slow, considering his smooth and swift fighting style seen in the trailer. I thought there'd be more shining white metal and more white fur on his sculpt, and I'm a little disappointed. Mounted version? I'm a BIG disappointed. the sculpt is not actually not bad, but the missing Elk is heartbreaking. That was the only model I was sure i wanted. At least the horse is large, strong-looking and dynamic.
All the elves' weapons look undersized to me, not just the bows. Their armour reminds me of the Gundabads' too much for comfort.
Looks like I'll be missing these minis this month.

Well we know these were sculpted some time back because the Perry's left GW about 6 months ago. It might be that they were working from early concepts.

The same has been true with most of the Hobbit range. If you pick up the Weta Chronicles books you can often tell which concept art GW were given to work from.

Unfortunately Peter Jackson has no qualms about last minute changes...

(I still can't believe they changed Smaug from having 4 legs to 2 legs between AUJ and DoS)

This means that there will be a lot of stuff released for this movie.

Hmm, I'm not seeing it, other than maybe Thranduil's short swords. If the blade-staffs were any bigger they'd be goofy, IMO, and the swords look to be about the same size as most elves' blades. The bows do look a tad short for elven bows.

I would guess they're doing faction-based releases. So elves in one wave, dwarves in one wave, men in one wave, then dunno if they'll break the baddies up into multiple waves or not.

Unfortunately, the fact that all of the elven infantry is finecast suggests to me that we shouldn't expect any plastic models for the other races, either.

Really nice sculpts, but I must echo the general opinion, and say that it saddens me that they are all finecast.
