Love the freehand horse head on the cloak. It's well-executed, but subtle.

Thanks guys. Yes I strive in every way to be like Kev! Thanks for noticing all the time!

Sorry JamesR that I hadn't commented earlier on the lava effect! I use Vallejo transparent paints, yellow, orange, and red. Start with a white basecoat and go over it with yellow leaving white showing through in the deepest parts. Now start the transition to orange adding progressively more orange to the mix to complete orange and painting progressively smaller portions. Then do the same for the orange red mix stopping at a 50:50 mix of orange and red. Finally give it a generous dry brush of black over the highest points. The splashes on the rock are done in the same fashion. Just put down your white base coats then add the color.

I hope that helps

I will be sure to post pictures of Smaug when I start him! In the meantime here is my latest:

Image

All NMM again, which is the only way I think I will ever go on Minas Tirith minis. I think it came out better than my last NMM attempt!

I was able to finish this one and sneak in some pics before the light was gone (getting dark as evidenced by the sword looking black)

More excellent work Randy. I think the Gondorian could do with some more contrast on the armour.
Love that grimy warg and rider.

Another couple of excellent miniatures, much like DMS I think your bases really finish off the miniatures and place them within a living world (sort of super-mini diorama).

Another great job and I wish the Wargs had come looking like that rather than bald look we got.

Great colour scheme on the Warg, original and works really well. Also your NMM work is really good.

Excellent painting here. I really like the fell warg and warg rider - and the freehand on the gondorian cloak is first class.
